M to the O to the T to the O.

You can be pretty darn blind, as long as it's correctable to 20/20. If you want to be an aviator, different story, but yeah, corrective surgery does wonders.

The military will set you up with some nice BCGs and you will be good to go.

The most I have weighed in the past was 150. I am confident I can get to around 160 though. It seems like I would need to also, as I would most definitely lose weight in training. I need to collect more information to make the final decision on which, but for me it is between Army and Marines. However, that will be at least 2(if I get bored of college), if not 4 years away. Thanks for showing interest though. Oh, and if my distance vision currently is not that great, (20/60 left eye, 20/70 right eye) what options would I have open to me?
I wouldn't count on losing weight. I went in weight 139 and I am now up to 156. We sat around a lot the last week or so of basic and at AIT we sit around a lot. I have been working out a lot on my own so that I don't get fat and out of shape.

As for vision, they will give you a vision test and make you up a pair of BCG's (birth control glasses). They are big ol' brown ugly glasses. You only have to wear them in basic and a ton of people will have them so it is no big deal. You can always join the Army and then go to college while you are on active duty or national guard. That way it is paid for. You also can get college credits for basic and AIT so that might help with you college goals. I came into the Army with 60 credits and I am going to finish my degree once I get stationed.

Are you wanting to be combat arms or support? Support is anything not combat arms, communications, construction, admin, etc...

Not all people lose weight. I went in and came out at the same weight.

I gained probably 8-10 lbs. It's all going to vary based on an individuals physical makeup, current activity levels, and diet.

Most people will gain strength and add muscle, while losing some fat. The question is how much each way?

I went in at 165 and came out at 135... but that was June in Parris Island.

I dropped 30lbs at Parris Island, and was hungry every single day. One week after, I had put 10lbs back on, and pretty much stayed there (175), and sometimes up to 180 throughout the rest of my 8 years.
