    Just finished basic

I just finished basic training at Fort Benning. I am now at Fort Gordon for AIT. I am on pass for the weekend so I am spending time with my wife since I wont see her again until Christmas.

Basic went by fast and I had a good time. I had pneumonia for 5 weeks and that was like being in hell. I still completed all the training and passed all my PT tests and junk. I qualified with a 24 because my rifle wasn't sighted in. I was in the infirmary when we zeroed.

If anyone is thinking about joining and has questions on basic let me know. It really wasn't that bad. Some times it was terrible but overall I made some good friends and had fun.

How's the food? Seems like anyone that gets sick in basic gets pneumonia what's up with that?.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I became very sick after receiving the inoculation for the plague. Knocked me on my *** for about four days, still finished boot, but never been that sick before, or since.

It partly has to do with people from all over the country living and training together. People get exposed to strains of diseases from other parts of the country. But I thought they gave you a shot to try and prevent sickness. I wonder how well it works...

They gave us a ton of shots. One was in the butt and it hurt for about a week. I don't think they worked too well because everyone in my platoon got sick at least once. Everyone gets sick from being exposed to different people and from being sweaty and nasty and lack of sleep and probably 100 other things.

congrats, thanks for the service. Same thing happened when I went to Benning in 04. I was on Sand Hill with Charlie 1-50. Everyone gets the flu or nasty colds, but I think that is the plan. To make you work hard while sick so you can fight in combat even when you have an illness. But lack of sleep, weather and being with a group of guys from different parts on the nation will bring up some nasty flu's.

As for the room where you walk in the assembly line to get all your shots and then the blood test at the end, I about hit the floor. I was sick to my stomach from all that crap.
