Well, I deployed in SEP 2005 and returned in Jan 2007. We had a formation in March 2007 and they Cased the Colors...my PSG was ARMOR, he reclassed to Engineers and then just told me he was heading to KFOR (with another unit)...but he told me they were reorganized...MP???? I thought IN.....either way no more AR.

I'm a CA ARNG recruiter. If you guys have any questions about joining, reclassing, or really anything I can help you. I've been doing it since 2004.

And MadDog...I told you man, whenever you want to come make some money hit me up.

I want to transfer from the reserves into the CA ARNG and reclass from 68W to 13B. I want the 1-143rd Field Artillery. I'm thinking about starting something in May or June. I'm an E-5 and my ETS is 2012. What can you do for me?

That's a first, usually folks want to reclass to 68W or from guard to reserves due to promotion and unit funding, not the other way around.

Why don't you ask for an ASI for your 68W, that's what I did. It's much better than being a straight medic, although you still are technically, and has a much better paying potential in the civilian world. M6, N3, N6, etc. Unless you are SGT(P), it's not hard to come across an ASI slot.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I was thinking about flight medic...

But I've always wanted to do something combat arms in the Army. I never really wanted to use my military training as a springboard for my civilian. I always thought that's what the GI bill was for. The stuff I want to do when I get out isn't what I want to join the Army for, if you understand what I'm saying.

There is not much Armor left in California since the reset back in 2005. 3 Tank BNs and 1 Cav SQD were reduced to 1 Combined Arms BN (185 - both M1s and Brads) and some sort of recon unit. In the end, it is all about numbers and money, you can not recruit women into 19 series MOSs and Tanks are a whole lot more expensive to run than HUMVEES.

50% of the reason I left the guard in 2005

I sent you a PM. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It sounds like a pretty easy request though.

Then go 18D. Or join a line unit. Volunteer for missions. Trust me, a 68W/91B/91W/whatever is the best job in combat IMHO.
