veterans license

Has anyone heard CA. issuing license with veteran on them. You have to qualify for them. Supposely there starting on veterans day this year.

Yep, first get the form which verifies your veteran's status at a county VSO.

Take this form to the DMV, pay $5, get your new license.

This is effective November 12, 2015.

Whats the point of it? Get rid of the VA id card?
Easier ID of veterans for LEOs so they can share pride in serving the community/Country?

Just called my local VA office; forms won't be available until on or after the 12th. Thought I could get a head start on this.

The rep simply said, call to verify walk-in hours and bring in your current ID/DL and DD214.

I have a service connected VA card. I am not sure what the point of this license is? Any vet can get a VA card, and some places are now required a service connected injury / illness to get discounts.

Not true (bolded part.) If you do not have a service-connected disability, the VA won't just issue you a card because you served.

Old card, or their new card? And I did not know they issued ID's to vets for those that didn't have a service connected disability.

So how in the heck did they get a VA ID, if they weren't enrolled? Or can you enroll even if you don't have a service connected disability?

I had a VA card before I was service connected. I also have friends that have cards that are not service connected.

You don't have to be service connected to enroll, but there are different categories based on your service, and if you are service connected.

For example, If you are a service connected combat vet you get priority over a non-service connected vet who did not serve in combat. Your rating also effects what priority they give you.
