NYT: "Building Legacy, Obama Reshapes Appellate Bench"

Democrats have reversed the partisan imbalance on the federal appeals courts that long favored conservatives, a little-noticed shift with far-reaching consequences for the law and President Obama’s legacy.

For the first time in more than a decade, judges appointed by Democratic presidents considerably outnumber judges appointed by Republican presidents. The Democrats’ advantage has only grown since late last year when they stripped Republicans of their ability to filibuster the president’s nominees.

Democratic appointees who hear cases full time now hold a majority of seats on nine of the 13 United States Courts of Appeals. When Mr. Obama took office, only one of those courts had more full-time judges nominated by a Democrat.

The shift, one of the most significant but unheralded accomplishments of the Obama era, is likely to have ramifications for how the courts decide the legality of some of the president’s most controversial actions....

    Elections have consequences.
Didn't really liked Romney but I voted for him. Unlike the Ron Paul puritan crowd who by voting for RP practically elected Obama "just to make a point" and "stand on principle"
Now we will all suffer the consequences of their hardheadedness. It's going to take decades until we can get rid of Obama's communist judges he infiltrated in the Courts.

P.S. I never thought I would say this but I pray to God for Ruth Ginsburg health. She may be a leftie but when compared with Chuck Schumer (Obama's top pick to replace her) she really looks moderate.

One of the worst parts about Obama getting elected is the justices he has, and will appoint.

No action on the bench until after 2016, the opening has passed. Obama is praying the libs on the bench don't die.

There is a certain Gov running for re-election that could very well
end up the poster child for the GOP in 2016. He has done many
good things for his state which WAS floundering in unemployment
and over development, but after landing a HUGE ludicrous investment
and technology deal regarding batteries of all things, times are
beginning to look good out his way, and the Natl GOP powers
that be are taking serious notice of him being a possible running
mate for the party. His name is Brian Sandoval.

GOP, Hispanic, and successful, who is looking out for his current
state and that's Nevada..I realize this has little to do with this
thread, but down the road, it may.

From what I have been hearing, Sandoval is planning to run for the US Senate and take on Dirty Harry Reid in 2016 for the seat....

Actually, blame Romney. It was his non-liberty positions that elected Obama. Or, more likely, Christians who wouldn't get out to vote for a Mormon. Oh wait, same basis - non-liberty, non-tolerance infesting the Reps.

How about it was YOUR hardheadness that gave us Obamma instead of Ron Paul. It is YOUR fault YOU can't break from the ONE pARTY that is REP/DEM that ran out country plenty long enough to get it right or wrong. Your hardhead got us where we are. This is a multi party system. Use it and make a point!

Never happen. No way would the national GOP put up a Hispanic for the frontrunner for President.
