If there are a million gun owners clicking on their site daily it would cost them a fortune but have no affect to their cause.

I say we go for it.

They can be either cost per click, or cost per impression. If they are paying on a cost per impression basis, all that counts is how many times their ad appears on a page that is open in a browser window.

      On cold marble stone
Love sometimes steals into a heart...

It doesn't appear to have a forum or allow comments, which is a weakness because it doesn't give anyone a reason to return. On the other hand, their facebook page is infested with so many obvious nutcases (go check it out, if you can keep from vomiting) that it might not help their cause to have all that on display.

Exactly. It isn't really costing Bloomberg a penny. It is simply sending a penny from Bloombergs pocket into the pocket of Everytown. It is money he would have spent for the same purpose anyway.

What it is really doing is buying your "support" for a penny.

Your clicking on the add allows them to say, "We have had 2,487,323 people this week click on our anti-gun ad. Doesn't this show how much America hates guns?"

          Don't give them the numbers.

It's just a run of the mill blocky site with little content and a lot of large navigation buttons, a lot of space between titles and text, irrelevant images, etc. I wouldn't call it "sleek." More of a "yet another design style that is considered mainstream, but will be obsolete in a year or two."

The main weakness is that it's no different than any number of similar sites that serve as a front end for the "donate now" button. The next weakness is the lack of clear message and content. Click on any of the links and you'll see that introductory paragraphs are just dancing around issues without ever getting to the point.

Here's a simple exercise. Pretend you don't know what they are about then come up with a single sentence about the group that put up that website. You also have to explain what you had to click and what parts of the site you had to visit to come up with that sentence.

Compare to the Calguns message on the landing page: "The California Firearms Owner's Home On The Internet Working Together To Preserve Our Freedoms."

Most of the pay per click ads are only charged once per IP address in order to avoid this exact practice and if it is not set up they can just dispute the charges as fraudulent. Just sayin

Just now when I logged on THR I saw a PPC ad of Everytown and I clicked on it. That makes three clicks just today. Pass word to your pro gunnies, tell them to take a spare minute a day to find an ad for it and click on it. Cost those scum every penny we can. If we don't they'll just have more money to spread their propaganda with and we can't have that. We need to organize and cost them money. Frustrate them at every turn. Use the internet in a way we can call make a difference.
I did not realize it cost them to do this. Very interesting and thank you for the info.
