1st Step to Expanding Gun-Free School Zones?

Guards help escort Chicago kids to new schools

CHICAGO (AP) -- Thousands of Chicago children whose schools were shuttered last spring walked to new ones on the first day of school Monday under the watchful eye of police officers and newly hired safety guards there to provide protection as the kids crossed unfamiliar streets - many of them gang boundaries.

I could easily see this being used to justify "gun-free" corridors of major arteries leading to schools -- after all, "if it will save just one child...."

See, gun control works. All you need is to ban as many guns as possible and then assign a security guard to every child, and a cop to every 5 children. Problem solved. Show me your papers.

Yeah, too bad it doesn't work....

The eyes of the city were on Chicago Public Schools “Safe Passage” routes Monday morning as a 28-year-old man was shot along one of the routes and a 14-year-old boy was shot to death near another one, the day before school starts.

The 14-year-old boy was shot and killed within a block of a welcoming elementary school, Melody Stem School , 3937 W. Wilcox. It’s at least the third fatal shooting along or near a Safe Passage route since mid-August.

Since students often aren't even allowed to walk to school these days, probably not a concern.

Hold the F on - what do they mean "gang boundaries"? They don't have a gang problem, they have a GUN problem, right? Wait, no, they couldn't possibly have a gun problem, since Chicago is a "model city" for gun control according to the brady bunch. It's damn near a gun-free Utopia! WTF is wrong with these people? Those kids are totally safe.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Allow me to summarize, since I used to live in that area..

"Buffoons" are in charge in that city.
