When I was in Israel in June, I was with family on the kibbutz (long way from Gaza), and I asked them about their security on the kibbutz, how many people were armed, etc...

Their response was "we don't need guns, we have the IDF".... I was horrified, as around 10 miles from the kibbutz is an Arab village of several thousand people.

At the time, civilians could only get a handgun permit, and were allowed to have 50 rounds of ammo.
Some of my friends are involved in some "special projects" that they have issued equipment outside of the civilian scope.

Since the 10/7 attack, they now have much better preparation (I sent them some equipment (not firearms or ammo of course) to help them. They have firearms, ammo, tactical gear, etc now.

    Now Israel realizes that it:
    1. needs to arm the citizens, so they're rapidly deploying guns and ammo.
    2. they cannot rely on the USA, so they're buying from other countries. This includes some advanced tactical equipment and systems.

The 2nd Amendment is so important, if we learn only one thing from the 10/7 attack, having a well armed militia is critical.
Imagine if our allies like Israel had been able to equip themselves with some of the $85 billion worth of equipment we left behind in Afghanistan.

FJB and all those who support him, and all those who installed him in our White House.

Wonder how they got those to use.
I have some pix from October 4th (before the hamas attack) from IDF of USA M16 found on a hamas terrorist, I don't know if it was traced back to Afghanistan, as this was 3 days before SHTF over there.

It is certainly better late than never for Israel to learn from its mistakes and enshrine its own version of the right to keep and bear arms.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Second Amendment makes us citizens, not subjects. All other enumerated rights are meaningless without gun rights.

From what I understand, Israel is a socialist democratic state.
(maybe not hard core, but socialism light).
(Irvine, you know a lot about Israel, correct me if I'm wrong).
Socialism and States that adopt socialist doctrine are by nature
autocratic and gun control is ingrained into the dogma.

Socialism and rights of ordinary citizens for self-defense are not generally compatible. There is a heavy reliance on the state for public safety, not an individual right.

Switzerland may be an odd exception, and rely on a citizen militia, trained and regulated by the state.

The USA is definitely an outlier and one of the few (8) countries in the world to enshrine a right to keep and bear arms. The founders certainly knew what they were doing.

The Second Amendment protects all the others.

                At least allow them 10/22s

The IDF has for a long time used them to shoot at kids and teens throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, et al at them in the West Bank
