Vox: "Sweden may have the answer to America’s gun problem"

Another thread for CGN's "International RKBA Political/Legal/Litigation" forum. More evidence of the antis using other countries laws & policies to try to persuade Americans to accept infringements upon our 2nd A RKBA.

the only thing i wouldn't mind is that before anyone is allowed to shoot alone at public ranges here, they must prove they can safely handle a firearm, and actually hit a target supervised by the RSO if you are a new to that range shooter. (ranges can be like 7 yards for pistol and 50 yards for rifle)

i mean how many times have calgunners here complain about idiots at the range pointing the muzzle down the line or hitting targets one lane over, etc. and how they only shoot at BLM due to this.

i'm not saying making a law about this, but just something a range can do on their own free will.

Responsibility in Sweden goes further yet: Convicted of a felony? No guns for you. Beat your wife? No guns. Under a restraining order? No guns. Drive drunk? No guns.
So much intellectual dishonesty with this article, with exception to misdemeanor DUI, those ALL APPLY in the US too.

But in my hunting camp, gun rights don’t exist — just gun responsibilities. Wally and Norman know that. Wally was walking down the nearby White City logging road with Dick at his side when his .30-30 lever-action rifle fired unexpectedly. If Dick had been walking ahead of him, Dick would have been the one who didn’t show up at camp that next year instead of Wally, whose carelessness cost him his camp privileges.

Norman, meanwhile, is one of the world’s nicest guys, but he doesn’t hunt with us anymore either. Twice his gun went off accidentally.
What kind of idiots does this asshat hunt with? 3 negligent discharges in one article?! "My friends and I are too stupid to act responsibly; we need the government to hold our hands!"

Why do this? The answer is obvious, isn’t it? How many more mass shootings must we watch with helpless impotence while asking, "What I can do?" To protect what we love — our hunting life — we must differentiate ourselves from other gun owners.
A holier than thou "solution" that won't do an effin' thing except be used as a stepping stone to universal registration/confiscation.

Mr. Tom Heberlein, you are an arrogant and foolish heap of dung.

To be a member at the range where I shoot, you must shoot for an hour with the supervision of the RSO and he has to signoff on it.

With 350 million guns in the US, you would know if we had a "gun problem"

is that supervised by a RSO for an hour during your first range time, or you have to shoot for an hour while a RSO watches?

cause the former is ok, the latter is a bit creepy?

The thing with registration is that you need to trust your government.

And the most trustworthy politician I know of was Leland Yee!

I read that garbage. Just another traitor being paid to repeat his opinion meant to nothing but dismantle the right. By using "responsibility". Oh, please.

In a free society the individual assumes responsibility. In Sweden the Nanny State assumes the responsibility and doles privileges out to it's "children".

And Sweden and the US are about as similar as a Schwinn bicycle and Corvette.

VOX is ****. Anyone who actually takes a millisecond of time to read a single word on their website in turn starts to become **** (it's like radiation poisoning).

VOX once ran an article (probably in May) about ending private property rights in the United States, and how that would solve the gun problem. I enjoyed when Ben Shapiro destroyed the article on his radio show and basically showed how the staff of VOX is a bunch of whiny SJWs who embrace socialism because they are adult children.

I hope VOX gets bankrupted eventually like it's libtarded brethren Gawker.

Did you even read the title of the thread, much less read the article? Neither is ultimately about hunting (or target shooting), but about how to change our US gun culture & laws to copy Sweden's.

Seems like some folks skipped over the part I've bolded above.

Posting an article does NOT mean I agree with it. Sometimes it is to alert/inform our side to what the antis are doing, how they're trying to attack us.

This is just another piece of drivel by someone who self proclaims to be knowledgeable about guns and the US Constitution.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, he FORGOT that in this country we have a Right to keep and bear arms which doesn't exist elsewhere in the world. So, while in those countries they may need a license to drive or own a gun, in THIS COUNTRY we don't need government approval. There goes his idea about regulating gun ownership to those who can prove they're responsible.

I loved the next article about how his hunting buddies can't come to the hunting camp anymore because they kept 'accidentally' firing their guns at each other. Perhaps he should have his hunting friends take the 1 year long safety course Sweden offer? Or, teach them himself instead of banishing his friends to other people's hunting camps? Where, presumably, they continue to accidentally discharge their weapons. I wonder how 'responsible' it is to foist your negligent friends off onto other unsuspecting hunters instead of teaching them how to be safe?
                              Some random thoughts:

Somebody's gotta be the mole so it might as well be me. Seems to be working so far.

Evil doesn't only come in black.

Life is like a discount bakery. Usually everything is just what you ordered. But, occasionally you come face to face with an unexpected fruitcake. Surprise!
