The VA announced that it would not be conducting an inspection of Arnold’s home.

Now, he must go through an appeal process to have his name removed from the list.

He believes the whole situation began with a clerical error.

Arnold had a stroke one year ago. In January, paperwork filed with the VA stated that Arnold was financially incompetent and could not handle his own affairs.

Arnold claimed the box that was checked was done in error and he was always competent to handle himself. However, the VA said that due to the paperwork, Arnold was no longer allowed to buy, sell or possess firearms.

“If somebody else makes an error and they cause you grief they should fix it,” said Arnold. “That’s all I want is that stuff to get fixed.”

I guess he will do as bad as he can before he leaves the office , I also believe he will confiscate weapons based on Social security or other ways.

Raiding a elderly persons home seems like a great way to be killed.... Not sure trying to disarm a ww2 vet that has a limited time to live would be a great choice for any federal agent(or LEO)..... IJS

And here in lies the problem with a Gov't that has so integrated itself into every aspect of peoples' lives.

Its also an example of why we have to look down the road to possible misuses of a system. I doubt in the very beginning of SS, that anyone would have conceived of the system being used for something like this. Giving the Gov't a power today may not seem bad, but you have to ask "how could the next guy, or the guy after that abuse that power?"

Retroactively. That's how. Including all the information they once promised would be confidential or only used for specific purposes decades ago. They can change their mind any time, and you have no recourse.
