So how do we hold someone accountable to the taxpayer $$$$$$ spent on this fiasco?

But isn't this because the taxpayers failed to comply, or complied in a different manner, so doesn't that mean the taxpayers wasted their own money

So, they were expecting roughly 250,000 x $15 = $3.75 million in income. Actual income is going to be closer to 30,000 x $15 = $450,000, so the shortfall will be around $3.4 million dollars. Oopsie!

The DOJ has asked for a loan of $3.7 million from Firearms Safety and Enforcement Special Fund to deposited in to the DROS fund. That $3.7 million loan is supposed to be repaid by 6/30/2021. Guess what loan is not going to be repaid? I guess the APPS program is going to be even MORE short of funds for enforcement...

Just occurred to me, a theory:

Are they taking extra time on all these 60k outstanding applications to suck up the excess funds they got? Lol, "guys, take 10x longer on each application because we fell 10x short of the goal. We need to balance the books."

                Is it possible? Hilarious.

I am curious how many who submitted applications are at the 60 - 90 days and 90 - 120 days from submission. Is anyone out 120+ days?

I am in the 60 - 90 day group for a simple store-bought 'CA Compliant model' AW, which should have sailed through the review process. With no feedback/response whatsoever from DoJ. Soo frustrating.

Both of my batches of guns are in the 90-120 days category.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

They know that they are going to have to pay back the Firearms Safety and Enforcement Special Fund and are not going to have anywhere near enough money to do so, so I'm not sure that burning up the funds really does anything...

They'll probably just ask the legislature next year for an appropriation of $3.4m to pay off the loan.

Yeah, but they are processing at rates ten times less than what they need. So that means ten times more for labor costs, and that is perfect math to get to 3.7 million.
