    I think this sums it up nicely. Guard Card = certificate from Consumer affairs, and exposed firearm permit = authorization to carry, and you also need to be 'regularly employed' as a guard.

      Security guards:

      Defined under Business and Professions Code 7582.1(e)

      Authorized to carry under PC 26030(a)

      FSC exemption under PC 31700(a) #11

      Note that security guards can only carry on duty and directly to/from their job site. The sidearm MUST be exposed and they must be in uniform meeting BSIS regulations regarding patches/badge. Concealed carry requires a CCW and permission from the PPO.
