    Refer to the BATFE specifications.
    Recognized abbreviations are acceptable.
N/S/E/W would be acceptable for cardinals, 2-letter state abbreviations, Jr/Sr/II/III/IV/etc for Junior, Senior, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc....

City abbreviations open up uncertainties... SB could be Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Benito, etc....
"W. Sacramento" would certainly be acceptable, "South Pass" would not fly for South Pasadena. Likewise "West Sac" or "W. Sac" would not be appropriate.

Is West Sacramento an actual city, or is it a CDP? Generally CDPs are not recognized as cities, such as El Cerrito is an actual city in the bay area, but there is also a CDP "El Cerrito" along the southern border of Corona, and it actually *is* Corona... served by their PD, Post Office, etc...

Do you even have to put city for volreg prior to July 1? I don't see that you do. Just a serial should be sufficient.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

I have a dozen or so 80% blanks. All uncut.

What is the least amount of work to do to be in compliance? Serialization and volreg'd?

Do I have to cut them and place bullet buttons in them now? Stocks?

I'm going featureless on all, just trying to find the least costly way to be in compliance.

I don't think you can register a non functioning firearm.

At this point, I would just take it easy and apply for a serial number when you plan to cut the paperweight.

Technically it’s a gun as soon as you remove the slightest of material from the cavity or pin holes.

The Bullet Button ship sailed at midnight on Jan 1 2017.
There is no legal use or purpose for a Bullet Button on a post-2017 build.

So did featureless become regular mag release rifles?

Featureless builds have always been able to use regular magazine releases.
The bullet button allowed you to have features, but it was never required for a stripped lower.
Featured builds are still possible, but you need a 2017 compliant magazine catch.

My question is...in order to register, what is the minimal amount of work and expense I have to incur?

Complete the machining, engrave your own serial number (might as well engrave all the ATF recommended markings though), and register as frames/receivers prior to 7/1/18. You can do all of them in one transaction on the CFARS website. They don't need to be assembled and you do not have to submit photos.

Since I finally completed my last poly80 I'm about to register. I am so lost in what's legal and what isn't but in your guys humbles opinion would I run into issues if I register a pistol as a multi cal instead of lets say 25acp that inlander arm kit recommend?

Might be a recycled question but Id appreciate a answer

****, guys. I’m totally late to the game on this and just heard about the July 1 deadline today. Been reading for hours, but the best info is about RAWs, which won’t apply to me. I have a barely used featureless 80% in my safe and I want to comply while keeping time/cost to a minimum.

                            - is a featureless rifle still fine with a drop free 10-round mag?
                            - Why “engrave all the ATF recommended markings”? can it just be a serial number?
                            - the engraving can just be amateurish, correct? One can use a dremel or other scoring tool for legible text, even if it looks homespun and just has “S/N: 1” carved into the metal itself?

                              1. Yes. Standard mag release is fine with featureless.
                              2. All I see required to meet 29181(c) exemption is a serial number.
                              3. No requirement it look nice.

Volregging / Firearm Ownership Reporting my homebuilt 80%'s, mostly pistols and am not sure how to proceed. I searched and most people refer to an old form that doesn't represent the updated online form.

Do I register it as a 5" barrel + Pistol or do I explicitly state in the comments that this was previously a single-shot pistol converted into semi-automatic?

Similarly, do I state for my AR Pistol explicitly that it was converted from SSEv2 to non-AW semi-auto pistol?

Basically, both questions stem from do I register it in SSE configuration to be safe, or do I register with current form?
