Can I keep AWs in 'locked' commercial storage during a home renovation?

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed already. It looks like BLM land will allow RAW shooting, what about National Forest land? Specifically El Dorado National Forest. Does anybody have any info on this?

Also, if it is allowed, will I be able to let my girlfriend shoot my RAW in my presence? (she is well over 18)

I have five AR type rifles, and if I cannot shoot RAW's at El Dorado NF, then I will have to go featureless.

Trigger locks serve no legal purpose after you leave the gun store, particularly if stored in a safe. Outside of the safe when transporting, they do NOT satisfy any "secure, locking container" requirement for handguns or RAW.
If in a similar situation (non-joint registration family members), but without an available safe for storage:

          1) Would cable locks be sufficient?
          2) Would locked rifle cases be sufficient?

For the purposes of storage in domicile.

Not likely. It is absolutely not sufficient for transportation.

As long as only the registered owner has the key.

So, 'Librarian's back yard' probably doesn't work, but 'Librarian's Concord Shooting Association', with a range in my back yard, probably does.

Although there's 'established' there to confuse things. Informal public land use probably does not count as an 'established' range.

Can't comment on the NF issue, but you can't let your girlfriend shoot your RAW unless at an "established" target range, etc per the original post.

She can't even have access to the safe unless she is living with you and she is listed as a co-registrant

I have decided to bypass all this bull****, and install the magazine locking device on all my AR's. The hassle it takes to reload a magazine, I think outweighs the hassle of trying to obey the rules that the Marxist totalitarians who run this state want to impose on us.

You wouldn't be able to register, because you were not in lawful posession of a "bullet button assault weapon" between 2001-2016.

Do not attempt to register any guns acquired after 12/31/2016 into CFARS - doing so may lead to a knock on the door by CA DOJ. That's what got the guy in Bakersfield.

                            Did you mean after 2017?

So if I choose to store the RAW at my girlfriend's house, it needs to be in a locked safe or container where only I have access to it?

If I were to store the RAW under my bed, does it still have to be in a locked container? Does this answer change if I am renting a room, and not renting the whole apartment?

1 Yes; not that it's likely, but it's possible that storage could create problems for the storing person.

2 Not if there is no chance anyone else has access

3 Yes, it changes, because theoretically room mates could gain access.
