I guess what I really need is the name of an FFL in socal that will actually do what is legal and accept a transfer from an out of state non-FFL holder.
I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

Yes you do. I am guessing the reason they won't do this is many FFLs tell people they can't send guns out of state without sending them through an FFL. At which time they charge you $100 to send the gun out of state. It is amazing that people buy this and pay FFLs to ship their guns. So if they tell you they can accept guns from regular class citizens out of state, then you might figure out you can send them too. Can't have that.

There is no PC code forbiding this. The pertainent PC is 12070 that says it is legal on the CA side.

PC12070. (a) No person shall sell, lease, or transfer firearms unless
he or she has been issued a license pursuant to Section 12071. Any
person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
          (b) Subdivision (a) does not include any of the following:
          ........
          (13) Sales, deliveries, or transfers of firearms by persons who
reside outside this state to persons licensed pursuant to Section
12071, if the sale, delivery, or transfer is in accordance with
Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United
States Code, and the regulations issued pursuant thereto.

On the federal side it is section 922 that says it is legal.

A person not licensed under the GCA and not prohibited from acquiring firearms may purchase a firearm from an out-of-State source and obtain the firearm if an arrangement is made with a licensed dealer in the purchaser's State of residence for the purchaser to obtain the firearm from the dealer.

          [18 U.S.C. 922(a)(3) and 922(b)(3)]

Sorry I cannot help you in Socal. If it was Norcal, I could list you a half dozen easily.

Hunter, can transactions like this be done with non DROP list guns (ie: Colt Revolvers)?

You can't get a non-DOJ approved handgun from an out of state seller, period. If you could, don't you think I would be doing out of state transfers through my FFL on a daily basis for Kimber Warriors, Kel Tec P-3ATs, Pythons, etc. and making a 100-200% markup by reselling it?

Handguns must be on the approved list or be one of the exemptions to be imported into the state. If the SA colt revolver is on the exempt list because it meets the exemption clause, it is legal to import into the state.

Having it come in from a private non resident or FFL has no bearing on the matter. This is in contrast to a in-state PPT (between residents ) that are exempt from the list completely.

The code for this single action revolver exemption states:
12133. (a) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a
single-action revolver that has at least a 5-cartridge capacity with
a barrel length of not less than three inches, and meets any of the
                  following specifications:
                  (1) Was originally manufactured prior to 1900 and is a curio or
relic, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of
                  Federal Regulations.
                  (2) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at
least 71/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are
                  assembled.
                  (3) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at
least 71/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are
assembled and that is currently approved for importation into the
United States pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (3) of
subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

                  (b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a
single-shot pistol with a barrel length of not less than six inches
and that has an overall length of at least 101/2 inches when the
handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.

                      Kimber Warriors
What do I do with this tid bit of information? I could pretend like I got a warrior in and I could PPT it for lets say $1500 or I could be honest because he probably meant Desert Warrior and tell everyone that the Warrior is on the list.

I did call Kimber and they don't plan on bringing in the Desert Warrior. I just don't get it. I could have sold three of those things by now.

Depending where you are in Socal, there's also Socal Guns on Convoy St. in San Diego. They received my roomie's shotgun when he purchased it from an out of state dude who didn't have an FFL.
