Good thing the officer was a bad shot. -

I think you either call the cops OR go walking around with a gun, don't do both. Thumbs down for the woman who runs out saying a man with a gun is inside, but does not mention the homeowner is also armed.I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

She might not have known the guy was armed. In a moment of panic, people don't always pay real close attention to what other people are doing.
Thumbs down on the police for not asking her if anyone else was in the house.
Thumbs down on the guy for holding onto a gun when the cops came through the front door shouting out that they were the police.
Er, the cops did identify themselves, didn't they?sigpic

Didn't the reporter say there were shots fired before the cops arrived? Maybe this guy didn't think to use ear protection in the initial shooting? Maybe he was having trouble hearing.
Also, it seems to be becoming more common for home invaders to impersonate LE. Maybe he thought the bad guy was still there and was yelling that he was a cop. Would you lay down your gun before knowing for sure it's really the police?www.freestateproject.org - Liberty In Our Lifetime.

It's been more than 50 years since the US Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional to require a test and a tax for people to exercise their right to vote. Why is my right to carry a gun any different? I don't want a permission slip from a bureaucrat; I don't want to pay a tax or take a test. "Shall issue" is NOT good enough.Comment

While the guy most likely could've acted smarter, I think, part of the problem is also that the police is used to being the only ones on this side of the law with the guns, and they act accordingly. It's about time they re-thought their perceptions.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.

You see, this is why law abiding citizens should not be allowed to own guns. If only the cops have guns then anybody not wearing a badge would obviously be a criminal and could be shot on sight. We would all be much safer this way.
Oh wow... sorry, I think I was momentarily possessed by Rosie O'Donnell but I feel much better now... although I have a strange desire to go for a drive in my Subaru Forrester and pick up a carton of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
