Kentucky smokes everyone at #1, Texas is #2, looks like CA is #3. Maybe they mean more people TOTAL are buying, but not more purchases. Its quite possible based on population that CA has more people buying, but not higher overall sales. More people buying fewer vs fewer people buying more

You have to be careful with those stats.

Some States like Kentucky run NICS background checks (which is what Fed stats are based on, DROS is a State thing) on LTC applications, renewals and other licensing changes.

This artificially inflates their NICS stats beyond just firearms purchases.

        * Which is one reason the position taken by smug media pundits, that Ruger and Smith & Wesson are leaving the California market in a huff, to make a political point, is so stupid and absurd. If they actually abandoned the largest state in the Union for no good reason, shareholder lawsuits would fly.

Dont know about you but best interests or not he gave up all kinds of political bargaining power by doing this. the unions are happy that their donors (police) are happy so we will get stuck with more gun bills as the union was never held to the fire for supporting this crap in the first place.
To be fair he seemed sincere IMO. He had to make the choice of helping out officers who were doing their job and needed supllies. Versus, and he admitted as such, challenging the politics of California and supporting it's 2A law abiding citizens.

Hawaii ran it on every gun registered in the State as well as purchased.

The new management of Ruger is way better than the previous one.

Yep, because in Texas (maybe other states too, who knows) if you have a valid CHL, when you buy from an FFL you skip the NICS check. You still have to fill out a 4473 but no phone call is made. Don't forget other states allow private party sales with no FFL involvement.

He did sound sincere. Which is why it took me 4 days to get worked up about it and finally post. We have got to draw a line and hold that line. They keep passing more and more restrictions without repercussions.
