Here is what I sent off last night to support our RKBA:
Dear California Assemblyman Richard Pan (FAX: 916-319-2109, Phone: 916-319-2009, mailto:assemblymember.pan@assembly.ca.gov)

Since this is a national Civil Rights issue, I feel compelled to contact you. I request you to take a stand against perverse interpretations of our Constitution whereby good citizens could be registered, finger-printed, harassed, even arrested for owning certain categories of firearms and/or ammunition devices that were previously legal.

Please do not vote for unconstitutional laws and personally encourage your fellow elected representatives to vote against any "gun grabbing" California Assembly and Senate Bills, especially those in the Assembly Appropriations Committee suspense file such as: Senate Bill 47, SB53, SB374, SB396, Assembly Bill 760, SB567, SB108, AB169, SB293, SB299, AB48, and.* For details, please see: http://nramemberscouncils.com/legs.shtml. Please strongly support AB134, AB249, AB871.

I have also written our sheriffs, since historically, sheriffs are the last line of defense of the Citizens and the Constitution, and as such they have resisted unconstitutional pushes to disarm and vilify the citizens of their counties. Please visit this website of the Constitutional Sheriff and Peace Officers Association: http://cspoa.org/sheriffs-gun-rights and http://cspoa.org/legal-opinion-sheri...o-enforce-laws. As an elected chief peace officer, I ask that you join with other courageous sheriffs across this Constitutional Republic (http://www.utahsheriffs.org/USA-Home...20Letter_1.pdfhttp://lcweb2.loc.gov/const/fed/fed_46.htmlhttp://www.constitution.org/js/js_344.htmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuz7FfziYUE

Just called the Sac office. Got through easily, friendly woman. Unlike every other staffer with whom I've spoken this week, she didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Maybe it's the lunch hour thing, and she's backup or something.

So I 'splained it all to her

I just called the capitol phone number and got through on the second ring. The woman who took the call was pleasant and didn't sound busy at all. We have to increase the volume, everyone call in.

Well this is a first - called in and got referred to as "ma'am" (I'm male and don't think my voice sounds particularly female in any respect). But other than that, staff was perfectly cordial and took down my message.

                      AmericanRedoubt,

You know that the odds are really, really good that they are NOT going to bother reading all that, right? They might make it through the first couple of sentences to see which way you want the person to vote, but that is about it. Personally I wouldn't send more than a short paragraph. These people are collecting numbers, that is it. And for that, a quick "Vote no on the anti-gun bills" statement is just as effective as your Russian novel there. I am not trying to pick, honest. But you need to remember that they are going to be going through thousands, if not tens of thousands of these. And no low-level minion is going to bother to do anything more than tic off a tally mark on their count. Assuming that they even bother to do that, and not simply delete all of them as they come in.

"...and I am assuming your opinion is opposed?"
                          "How'd you know?"

called and emailed each day the last few days. I dialed Eggman's phone. voice mail box full. switch to her first assistant's voice mail box, full. switch to her 2nd assistant line, left a voice message. email went through.

For Dr. Pan on Thu, the email was responded by: use my website. It rejected me for wrong zip code. No big deal. check online finding his area. I only changed my zip code in the web communication and it went through as a breeze.

First call to Dr. Pan's office, it was answered by a live person. what a surprise. I worried. so called the 2nd time. voice message box full! Great!!

Called capital number for Senator Pan and got right through. Staffer was very cordial and seemed to know exactly why I was calling. Told her the bills and before I could say it she asked "opposed?" almost anticipating my response. Got the feeling she likes that we're calling and opposing.

Very pleasant conversation. She even stayed on the line as a fumbled to find the bill numbers to read (yes learned to have them ready). Staying polite goes along way! Remember how we handle our interaction can be a reflection on our community.

                              Go get em guys!

Got through, first attempt. Not enough of us are calling. The lady was very polite. I voiced my opinion and she thanked me. Noted my name, number and city and said she would relay my message.
No phones were ringing off the hook...please folks, get the word out to your friends and make some calls.
