I buy $10 memberships for my family members who cant/too cheap to get theirs. I buy my brothers regular membership as b-day gift. Kids get real excited when they get their membership card in the mail lol. You should also bring up the $2,500 free gun insurance for folks on the fence.

Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison
The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms. -- Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (Pearce and Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)Comment

I think it's ironic that most of the people who don't contribute to any organization that preserves our 2A rights are the first ones who complain about how crappy the gun laws are. I have a friend who just spent over $4,000 on two rifles but doesn't contribute. Atleast get a 1 year membership every year if you don't wanna spend the lump lifetime membership fee. $35 is going out to dinner once for me.Last edited by acolytes; 05-06-2013, 10:50 AM.Comment

The bad economy compounded with rising costs and flat income actually made me find ways to change a lot of habits to come up with new savings.
1. Changed all incandescent and halogen light bulbs to CFLs. Electric bill went down from $100 every two months to $50 every two months.
2. Sold one of my gas guzzling cars and bought a motorcycle instead. Now I use the motorcycle as the main commuting method. 17 MPG V6 engine car to an used 40 MPG Honda Goldwing for $3000 off of Craigslist. Significant gas savings accumilated over the year to added about additional $1,000 in savings compared to the previous year when I drove the V6.
3. Cancelled cable TV. No need to be spending $100s of dollars every month when I can watch most of the stuff online and I barely watch TV nowadays anyway.
4. Cancelled home telephone service. No need to be spending $50 dollars every month when I have a cell phone that does the same job.
5. Downgraded my cell phone plan. No need to be spending $100s of dollars for unlimited talk & text when it's all about the data now. Barely even use my calling minutes or text to worthwhile of using "unlimited" talk and texts. Baseline 500 min a month with no text and unlimited data is more than enough for my needs. And I barely even use 100 minutes a month in talktime either.
6. Re-shuffled all my insurance policies into one place. Rather than car insurance and home owners insurance being separated, I combined it into AAA. Decreased insurance by $300. Went over with AAA insurance agent since I now have a car and a motorcycle instead of two cars. Use less of the other car, use more of the motorcycle. Went over the odometer usage and knocked off additional $500 off of that.
After doing all this, I actually have more money saved up than ever to donate a lot of money to organizations that fight for my cause.
1. Joined the NRA lifetime for $300 when they were doing that promo earlier this year.
2. Upgraded to NRA endowment for $250, would probably do the Patron and Endowment upgrades too.
3. Became a SAF lifetime member for $150
4. Joined the CRPA annual member, if I like them, will switch to lifetime as well too
5. I'd probably donate $1,000 to the Libertarian Party to become a lifetime member of that party next year too. In my view, both Democrats and Republicans are statists one too far to the left, the other too far to the right, the only one that make sense these days is the LP.
Coming up with the money is easy once you go over what you really need and what you can do without. It's all about the little savings that add up over the long term."Prohibit the peasants from owning katanas, wakizashis, arrows, spears, or matchlock rifles. If the peasants are armed, they will not pay nengu (taxes) and they will not be subordinate to the officials."
Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sword Hunt Edict of 1588, establishing the class division between the peasants (commoners) and the samurai (the governing elites).

Got my buddy to finally sign up for the NRA. He just built is 2nd AR and still didnt have a membership. My constant harping on him he finally did it when I pulled my laptop out and said, "just do it now!" and he did.Originally Posted by Wherryj
