L.A. Gun buyback program reduced gang homicide by 66%

Thats what Villaraigosa and Charlie Beck said today to promore their gun buyback program. So the gangbangers turned in their guns for grocery cards and lived happily ever after.

Wonder where they got these numbers? Wonder what idiot would believe these numbers?

The guns turned in are a joke. These two "public servants" are a joke. More like public dis-servants.

Shameful to have people like this leading the city.

The gangbangers probably paused to buy up weapons cheap.

They turned in used murder weapons for LA to dispose of for them. It makes it more convenient because gang bangers really don't need to be bothered with driving outside of the city or taking a boat out to dispose of their murder weapons. Then it takes a week or so for them to find a new one again. Then commit some more crimes with the new one and wait for the city to take care of the next one for them too.

One more example of law enforcement telling the media exactly what to report.

You want to know where the original source of firearms misinformation comes from? Hint. Reporters are lazy and clueless. They don't have time to write propaganda and tailor lies.

How would one go about proving that statistic? Apparently the city of Los Angeles has an office of future crime. How else would they have known that it was that buy back and those very guns which were tuned in that lead to a reduction in the homicide rate.

They don't have to. When it comes to the LASD, there is zero fact checking, despite the fact that nobody in the local socal media industry trusts the LASD.

Why? The LASD is one of the biggest sources of news for local news stations. Why should they bite the hand that feeds? Especially in conjunction with some completely idiotic PR stunt on the part of 2/9 to appear to be the "good guys" in partnership with LASD?

Where in the hell are these numbers coming from? First its 91% support background checks, and now its an 66% reduction in gang homicides?

The small sample size of participants that take all the online polls are not representative of the general population, and sure as hell not representative of gun owners. As for the 66% reduction in "gang homicide", I'd love to see the hard statistics on that.

Wow they should try one of those buy backs in chicago!
They could really use a 66% drop in their murder rate....

They are lying. Plain and simple.

You guys ever listen to Freakonomics? Its a podcast where two economists look at all sorts of different issues and apply economic metrics. They always have some interesting perspectives to offer on whatever issue they take on.

They looked at guns and gun regulation in a recent episode. Mr. Steven Levitt declared that gun "BuyBacks" were the most useless form of gun control out there. He is not a "gun guy". He is a "truth in numbers" guy. He 100% decried buybacks as a waste of resources and a useless exercise in paying non-criminals for their guns.

Check it out. Personally, I like Levitt quite a bit even if he is "liberal". He's really damn honest and his show is centered around cutting the BS out.

Los Angeles liberal heads are going to explode when the libertarian leaning Koch brothers buy the parent of the LA Times and Chicago Tribune. According to lefty "journalists" and whacked out college professors Libertarians are dangerous right wing extremists.

They probably made the numbers up, just like our dear leader and the "90% of the American population favor..." Does! Lead by example!

And the liberal sheeple will blindly believe whatever their socialist masters tell them, and call you a racist if you ask where they got their facts, or show them evidence contradicting those numbers.
                              Sorry, not sorry.
