On another note, Quirk just reintroduced a bill that everybody agreed "mysteriously and incorrectly died." Then it moved out unanimously....a second time. It would be nice to know how one mysteriously kills one of these bills....

Ok just got out of one meeting at work and headed to another.

For clarification, can someone confirm the following:

          AB 48: Ammo restrictions - passed 5-2
          AB 169: Unsafe handguns - passed 5-2
AB 500: Firearms - not yet heard.

So according to Librarian's thread on 'how does a bill become law', it says:
          Here's the general pattern:
          Introduced in one chamber
          Committee 1 > Committee 2 > Full house
          Goes to the other house;
          Committee 1 > Committee 2 > Full house
          Goes to the Governor

So are we at the bolded section now?

Yes. Committee 2 is generally Appropriations unless there is a 2nd policy committe, but that is not usually the case with these bills (exception might be judiciary but doubtful).
"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." Calvin Coolidge

                    Pros:

"Additional 7 day waiting period necessary to keep guns out of the wrong hands. I'm open to extending that to a higher number."

"It's common sense that if we're going to have background checks, we should have enough time to process them."

"We feel safe storage should be required in all homes."

"On average it takes 8-10 days to do a thorough background check."

"The mother of a friend of mine used a firearm to take her life, therefore it only makes sense to support this bill."

                        Cons:

"CA already takes longer than anyone else."

"If we need more time, why aren't we using the $24M surplus in the DROS account to expedite the background checks?"

"Requirement for a law-abiding citizen to secure firearms while prohibited person is in the home not constitutional."

No questions or comments asked by the Dems...
