I like how Cruz labels gun ownership as a "privilege". Seems to reflect the thinking of a lot of politicians these days.

It's CA-envy -- trying to get theirs in before CA can.

In states like CA, NY, NJ, it looks like they are going to pass as many laws as they can to restrict 2nd Amend rights and leave it up the courts to sort out what is constitutional and what is not.

This over-reach in the long run, is going to push everything up to the Supreme court and pretty much force the Supremes to be more concrete on the interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

Won't all these actions eventually be looked at in the courts as unconstitutional and a conspiracy by the government at state and federal levels? They're trying to make it near impossible for most to exercise their right under the 2nd amendment to own a gun; hopefully this will be their demise... and not ours.

Hopefully this will pass quickly so we can get it knocked off the table for all time while the Heller 5 are still healthy.

Yeah, all it'd take is for one of them to forget to take a dose of Lipitor and we'd be in a real fix!

It'll force poor folk to forego gun ownership. The courts will smack it down post haste.

More retardation. Why is it, that if you put a D next to your name, you have to come out with the most ludicrous anti-2A bill you can come up with?

The insurance (according to the article ) must cover any negligent or willful act...

Since no such insurance product exists everyone is immediately subject to confiscation.

Way to think that one through big boy!

DON'T PANIC, this will never happen here, the Democrat-supermajority will never pass this, they know it's nonsense,, and even if they do, our buddy Moonbeam will veto it because he's our friend! Pay no attention, all is well in California, don't worry...

If (when?) this passes here... we'll see. I keep intending to add umbrella coverage anyway, and I don't think that's that much. But if it won't "qualify" for CA, and we wind up looking at a $2K yearly bill... I'm gone. I'm gone at some point within two years anyway, and I really don't want to put my employer or customer out. I may be able to work the same program from TX or VA, but if not, I can find another job.

If these bills requiring insurance pass, gun ownership will become a privilege--a privilege of the wealthy.
