Not law abiding gun owners. Their legislation is proof they want only criminals to have guns.

This is a blatant poll tax. If such measures were applied to the right to vote or access to abortion services, there would be immediate and overwhelming outcry and demonizing of the sponsors from the majority of media outlets.

I have the right to have my firearms free of any possession tax. If I have to pay to keep them, then the government has abridged my right.

I would leave blank spots on the ballot before I voted for any of those ninnies.

there are already laws on the books requiring locks be sold every time a gun is sold, have safes, and other requirements including a a gun buying card that has to be renewed every five years after a background check. All this does is create deep pockets for law suits and places the blame on the gun owner after a gun is stolen because the victim can't get money out of the criminal and the government denies victim relief from victim funds we pay for with our tax dollars. Gun owners are being used to replace the government for deep pocket lawsuits. the government is not doing it's job and they want to pass the blame. We already do more than any other state so how can we create pressure on this legislator.

Ah yes, yet one more way to make it difficult for the poor to afford effective self defense.

well, 80% gun parts are gonna sell like hotcakes if this passes and every gun owner is gonna own a drill press. there's gonna probably be an exponential increase in unregistered homemade firearms.

Backdoor gun ban, since no liability insurance carrier would ever offer actual "gun insurance" to a private residence. Liability insurance is not required for marriage, or voting, nor could it be.

Is this an arguable case (constitutionality) for some of Alan Gura's Kung Fu? Or is he tied up with other litigation?

Oh? Didn't read the text of the bill, but does it require insurance carriers to underwrite a firearms specific liability policy? If not, then I doubt the carriers will comply, leaving the gun owner out in the cold. Then again, given the safety record of firearms compared to other risk exposures, maybe they would be falling all over each other for such a market. Just think, if this bill passes it could become a source of income for the NRA and any other gun lobbing group ready to offer such policies. I bet the NRA would have a policy ready to go before the ink dries, with monthly mail and email spam to tell you about it. Unintended consequences - gotta love Sacramento.

I do have a multimillion dollar general liability policy, have to read it again to see if it excludes firearm related liability. Purchased it when the city was slow to repair the sidewalk in front of our house, in anticipation of some fumble footed progressive lawyer tripping over the raised crack, falling into my old van to suffer a facial abrasion from the Harley Davidson spare tire cover and suing the pants off me. Without pants I would turn people to stone, hence the need for liability insurance. Fortunately, since then the city replaced the sidewalk and enlarged my driveway as part of the cost-sharing program, but I kept the policy anyway.

No text yet, can't answer detailed questions.

I'm sure they have a low income insurance plan in the works long with this. If nothing else, this legislature loves its' bureaucracy.

This is the hope of Immigration Reform with a path to CITIZENSHIP that does not involve first returning to the nation of your birth and applying for LEGAL EMIGRATION from/Immigration to your intended new nation... ya know, like the laws ALREADY demand.
