Let's get California next. IMO every state should be a shall issue state.

They don't have a choice. It's been a long legal battle that would result in constitutional carry (FOID carry) if nothing was done.

There is much more than meets the eye here.

Yeah an order from a circuit court saying no regulations at all in 180 days unless you put a reasonable law into place kind of lights a fire...

I think this is a good example (assuming this passes), for all the people out there that say, what has the 2AF done for us etc... it is this kind of case that is making a difference for lots of ppl, and I think this will percolate up to SCOTUS sooner rather than later and we will see this sort of law nationwide.

From what I can tell, they got it via a legislative Bill. Is that correct? If so, we are stuck. If it was legal action, does it set any kind of precedent that we can leverage?

Illinois couldn't even get an AWB passed this year (and they've failed for god knows how many years) with a Democratic super-majority in both houses of their state legislature (sound familiar?). What makes anyone think may-issue is even in the cards? Some form of this shall-issue bill will pass, and the current bill has preemption for carry-permit holders. The key is in the details.

Also a dupe. I posted on this around a week ago. If not before.
                      On the Second Amendment:
"'Keep' means they're mine, you can't have them. 'Bear' means I've got some on me, and they're loaded."

The thing that had me thinking they would at least try for may issue is the fact that Chicago hates guns. HATES guns. If they could get a may issue law in place, and then work it like SF and LA counties do, they'd be peachy.

Wouldn't happen though. Court would have their heads on a pike.

This is dumb. They could get MUCH MUCH more. This opportunity will NOT come again. No training requirement, make it as easy is possible to get a CCW. The most important thing they need to include in the bill is STATE PREEMPTION of all gun laws much like Florida.

The bill was better than previous internerations, and they need 3/5's vote of both Houses to pass. We can't have Chicago playing games with carry laws.

No, Chicago has 2 choices. Either shall issue or constitutional carry. Which do you think would choose? The court gave them a certain amount of days before ALL carry laws become moot.

It'd be much better if it did not pass and the state went CC.
Things usually turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out.
