Available in California from Plum Crazy.... Looks to me like you could drill the sear hole and drop in a GI sear....

You can mill it how you want short of the 3rd hole. Drilling the hole for the sear makes it readily converted to a FA. Glbtrttr is spreading the FUD pretty thick.

You can engrave whatever you want on your gun and you can paint it pink and purple camo as well. If the engraver doesnt want to do it, pickup your lower, turn towards door and walk out of engraver shop. Call another engraver and reverse the previous steps.

I wasnt rolling the eyes at you..

I was actually agreeing with you. Read the post Glbtrottr is spreading the FUD, you brought it up, I illustrated it and said that not only is it legal but legal in California.

Nguyen expressed intent, so attempt to commit the crime applied, especially since he had started the project. This is a long way from constructive possession. Get it right and know the difference glbtrottr.

                3) redimensioning the interior base fire control shelf to accommodate an m16a1 auto sear that costs 16 bucks is massively illegal too. The 100 dollar m16 lower parts kit is hugely illegal, and both the inappropriately Milled out receiver as well as the fire control group parts constitute possession of an assault weapon as well as intent to manufacture. Don't do it. Both are NFA item violations
                4) possession of an m16 bolt carrier group has been historically very legal based on a findings letter distributed by ATF. With that said...

...the recent Nguyen case screws all of us. This felon showed off his AK manufacturing to the cops who pinched him and convicted him for INTENT to manufacture an assault weapon though he was not in possession of full auto FCG. The appeal was lost, and the meaning is that if you have the parts to assemble an assault weapon (and all of us do simply by omitting a bullet button), every one of us runs the risk now of being pinched for intent to manufacture an assault weapon, no matter how neutered your featureless build is.

For all of you happy naysayers and head shakers, let me part with this: attorneys in our Calguns family have recently met with 3 letter LE organizations whose keen interest on m16 bcg's was overtly apparent, independent of a letter from ATF's own organization.

Constructive possession has arrived along with intent to manufacture. These are not the yesteryears. You'd have to be an ostrich and not consider political climate as it stands today. Until a split develops and goes in our favor, the bad Nguyen case stands...
                1) Perfectly legal, you herd [sic] correctly.

                2) Adding that 5/32" hole above the selector is a major fubar.

                3) Complete FUD. Where do you find milling out the rear shelf to fit an auto sear is illegal? Inquiring minds, etc.

                4) Correct.

Interest about auto bolts is curious but irrelevant, ATF has already issued an opinion.

I just saw a Bushmaster Carbon-15 lower (sealed magwell) today and it had the same FCG pocket as the Plum Crazy and NFA polymer lowers.

for multiple manufacturers to mill the full mil-spec FCG pocket without issue tells me that it most likely not illegal to have a mil-spec FCG pocket in a semi-auto receiver, it is the actual 3rd hole that makes the difference. My guess is that most of the AR-15 manufacturers are milling the "common AR15" pocket because everybody else is doing it. I'd also guess that the initial "semi-auto" bump came from Colt, who has often gone farther to prevent FA conversions that ATF has required, just so they could CYA themselves.

I emailed ATF and am awaiting a letter. May or may not ever show up. I also took a picture of a frontier arms lower which is pretty much identical to the plumb crazy which I will post soon. I also contacted rocobro who said that it is not illegal as long as I do not own the parts sub the BCG and that I do not drill the 3rd hole. So far it's looking good. Thanks all! Another success from the community here at calguns. If i ever get an answer from ATF i will post here for future inquiries.

Forget the letter also. ATF has been known to change their minds. Remember the TM determination letters.
