Democrats 2A strategy - Divide gun owners

Watching these gun grabber Democrats...Durbin calling for "responsible hunters & sportsmen" to step up.

Splitting gun owners will be used to push this bill through.

We have to remain united. I would advise all Calgunners to contact your "hunting" buddies and educated them if they need it, their bolt actions and shotguns will not be immune to further infringements.

Yep, and they're going to try to get gun shop owners/retailers to support (or at least not oppose) a ban on private sales/gun shows.

On the political side, Obama/Biden will be gearing up their re-election campaign coalition of white liberals, women, blacks, Latinos, and Asians (>70% voted for Obama) to out number "angry white guys" who have been the backbone of the pro-RKBA side....

We should not underestimate their odds of victory.

Never forget that the day after he won re-election, Obama agreed to revive the UN small arms treaty negotiations:

I agree that it is essential we attempt to educate other gun owners and hunters so as to present a unified front. That said, it is going to be difficult and I base that on personal experience.

I have two cousins who live in Oregon and at least one of them (single female) has a shotgun for personal defense. In response to a recent email she sent back language talking about "military firearms spewing death" and how can any one "need" something like that for hunting. The other responded and talked about why would anyone "need" a forty round magazine to hunt with. Clearly these two well educated people are completely blinded by their liberal bias. They cannot, or will not acknowledge that the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting.

A long time friend who has about ten firearms, including semi auto pistols, just states that no one should own "those kind of guns". He is a very rational guy, but has a completely closed mind when it comes to the AR15 and does not mind stating his opinion. When I pointed out that a semi auto .22 rifle he owned could have done as much damage as the .223 at Sandy Hook, he would not even acknowledge that as factual.

The Liberal Socialists who have the Senate and the Presidency realize this divide exists and will exploit it. Even in the shooting club I belong to there are predominantly long time members who do not look with favor on the "black rifles", even though at times those shooters make up fifty to seventy percent of people using the rifle benches.

It is a difficult battle given the closed minds of many of our fellow gun owners.

It's not going to work this time. As seen in the boycott of the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show even the fishing and boating industries and bow hunters are standing shoulder to shoulder with modern sporting rifle enthusiasts. That boycott is costing those standing with us a ton of money but they are standing with us. The boycott has been so successful that the British company behind the show has been forced to indefinitely postpone the show.

I would not say ***many*** most gun folks realize that if they can demonize and ban a category of firearms involved in less than 3% of homicides, they can ban anything.

I suggest you point these folks to this post: http://reasonedpolitics.blogspot.com...ppose-ban.html

In it I address most, if not all, the issues you mentioned and I show what the ultimate goal of these gun control advocates is. I deal specifically with the "weapons of war" argument and I also show the reader just how bogus the whole AWB is.

AWB and Magazine limits are likely DOA

Pro-gun congressmen have been told by the speaker that no gun control bills will be brought to a vote in the House. Sen. Harry Reid has reportedly said that he will not "make my people vote on any bill that won't pass the House". That equals nothing being voted on in either chamber. The Dems intentionally have run pro-gun candidates where support for gun rights is high, and they cannot afford to loose these votes in either house in 2014.

Should we relax? No - but there is a great deal of hope that we will win. We need to keep up the good work and not give up hope.

The one measure that has at least a small chance to pass is "universal background checks". Reportedly the gun control groups have asked the administration to focus on this issue rather than the AWB or magazine limits. We may be able to stop even this by linking it to something like CCW reciprocity. That way, even of this does pass, we still would get something we want.

Barrasso said he wouldn't even take it up in committee, I remain guarded, but active. We need to fight this tooth and nail, every day until we pass our guns on to our children. Then they shall fight the gun grabbers.

Keeping our rights, means keeping our Representatives feeling the heat 24/7/365

We have to affect the culture as well. Education, indoctrination, and entertainment. The left does this, and we have to fight them by getting to the children first with a responsible gun culture that doesn't frighten, but educates what our Rights are there for.

Universal Background checks should include private access to NICS and not through a dealer with a fee. We should demand and iPhone app...

If all checks must go through a dealer than the government should pay for it and not just the gun owners. They want the checks, they have to pay...

And yes, CCW's as well as out of state sales...

I am seeing on this list the following language:

All AR types, All AK types

Correct me if I am wrong, but when California tried that, was it not ruled unconstitutionally vague? You cant ban "All AR type guns", you have to ban them by name or feature.

Divide and Conquer is their strategy last term and this one. They won't stop until they have torn this nation apart at the seam. Our country is so divided right now on so many issues and instead of Obammy trying to dix this he just keeps pushing his will on us further dividing.

Let's not forget that in two years, every member of the House and 1/3 of the Senate has to reelected. The Anti's will be pushing hard. We need to push harder!
