Things usually turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out. -
Bear spray is not a pesticide or a poison. My gun doesn't say on it that it's illegal to use on humans. Neither do my fists.Originally posted by SilverTauronConsidering the facts of how easily safes can be defeated, a park bench offers the same amount of protection.Originally posted by loose_electronPE card? I used to substitute teach. I carried pepper spray, a flashlight and a folding knife in little holsters on my belt along with my cell phone. Never a word from anyone at all the schools I was at. Never took the knife or pepper spray out of the holster carriers, but did use the flashlight occasionally. Out of sight, out mind.Comment

I guess you didn't click the link I provided. Straight from the horse's (manufacturer's) mouth:
Originally posted by GrizzlyGuyThis thread made me curious about the legality of the large (> 2.5 Oz) bear spray canisters, as we frequently see them up here in bear country (mostly carried by tourists, we locals just yell at the bears and they scamper).
I E-mailed my question to the folks at Counterassault.com and they replied:
Quote:
Yes, the bear spray is legal in California because it is a registered pesticide. The 2.5 oz restriction only applies to personal defense sprays.Last edited by GrizzlyGuy; 12-18-2012, 9:36 AM.Comment

If there are chairs in the classroom your wife has weapons at her disposal. The efficacy of chairs as weapons depends to a great degree on the age of the students.
The Virginia Tech shooting could have been stopped cold if just one student threw a chair at Cho, and a couple others dogpiled on top of him.
My GF came back from some training her company (a utility) gave on what to do about an active shooter. I was pleased to hear than instead of cowering in fear until they got shot, it was suggested they look around for anything that could be used as a weapon and use it. The training was out of some US government pamphlets, too.
That's progress, anyway.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment

Good luck finding a squirt gun that is acid resistant - and that's also illegal. As a chemical weapons, firearms and Taser Instructor. Short of using deadly force, I prefer pepper spray over the Taser for most applications, especially if they are wearing heavy clothing or body armor. I have never had pepper spray fail me - the Eskimos hate it! The only problem with spray is that it takes a couple seconds to really work - doesn't work with a gas mask.sigpic
