While I still think these idiots do this on purpose, the problems are well beyond the scope of what we talk about. The bullet button problem is not about the damn bullet button! We need cleansing of political landscape, we need new parties, new people, new faces. Preferably with a degree and free of criminal background.

The problem is that you are attempting to apply logic to an illogical person. I don't agree with them. But I can understand them. They are dealing with an emotionally charged trauma that left them without a loved one. They're not thinking rationally. All they are hoping for is to find a way to come to terms with their loss. I think most of them just wish they could have their loved one back.
My guess is that their logic goes something like this: My _____ was killed by a gun. If he didn't have a gun he might still be with me. I don't want this to happen to other people. Let's get rid of the cause.
Their logic may be flawed. But I can appreciate their misguided motives. I think these people deserve our sympathy.
Right, but my question is, what gets them there? Brady and Reagan was shot with a .22 pistol. But the bill with his namesake, later law, banned Assault Weapons? The adage: " It is a poor artist that blames his tools." How can it be logical to blame a gun at all? If Lee Harvey Oswald did not get the 6.5mm Carcano, he would have used a Springfield or whatever. Guns don't choose their targets and fire themselves. Why don't they get that?
Instead they rather rationalize emotionally and blame an object. It is like blaming the computer for one's poor spelling or grammar. If Wilcox's daughter's boyfriend wanted her dead badly enough, he could have used a knife or his bare hands. It is like claiming that the gun made you do it. The devil finally accomplished his mission and convince the general public he does not exist? So now we have guns instead? If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

i'd have no prob paying for the train if it was a legitimate 250mph bullet train non stop from sac to oakland, then direct to LA and SD but it is going to be some piece of junk 100mph in a lot of spots i'm sure and not a true bullet train.just happy to be here. Where are they building the "first"underfunded part of the train? Inthe central valley from bakersfield to fresno. Where no one wants it. I defy you to show me where SF is included in the "first"stage. There is no money for this political boondoggle. If i actually believed this train was going to be built to completion in my lifetime i might believe in the idea, but we cant build 4 miles of freeway in so cal (710 extention) where the hell are they going to find the room to build the rest of the route.

That is exactly what California needs right now. I cant wait to vote to extend tax hikes to fund neccesary services like this train idea!Comment

We will make sure to shorten the school year to 100 days to make sure this happens.I support peace through superior firepower.

So I hadn't heard anything about SB249, yeah I've been in the dark I guess, but from what I read else where it is a ban on Assault weapon 'kits'?
But most of the discussion is on the mag-magnet (dumb dumb idea to make this product, it totally undermines the bullet-button) and the BB itself...
So does this seek to ban the bullet button?
Does it only ban the mag-magnet?
Would making the requirement of a factory installed bullet button mean no more stripped lowers?
How does this effect people already owning AR-15s and the like with BBs installed?
Going to do some more reading and should be able to answer a lot of this myself, but thought I would ask the experts!
And as far as the Hobby/Right discussion. I would throw them a bone and say that MAYBE shooting and going to the range is a Hobby, but OWNING the guns and taking them to the range when you want is a Right.Last edited by janus408; 07-13-2012, 5:59 PM.Comment

I posted the petitions to my facebook and twitter, and one of my friends from arizona (who is extremely active in civil rights protesting, also is married to a lawyer) doesn't think this is worth the hype.
Now, I stand behind Calguns, and i replied with the last two paragraphs of Gene Hoffman's opposition letter, http://www.hoffmang.com/firearms/sb2...r-20120627.pdf , but i have to wonder, is it true? Would this bill just come back stronger and better worded against our interests?
actual discussion please, not looking for flames or "free states vs california" rhetoricComment

"Yee’s bill originally sought to ban the bullet button. But he recently amended the bill to ban only conversion kits such as the “mag magnet,” a hot seller at gun shows, that makes a bullet button even easier to use"
Good. Now that we have that cleared up, MAYBE people (myself included) will stop wondering exactly WHAT this bill will outlaw. Magmagnets? Who cares? No one should be quick swapping magazines anyway. There is no rapid fire drills at any ranges nor should there be. HOWEVER-Lets not lose focus on what this bill was originally intended to do-make it impossible to aquire an AR or AK pattern rifle AND turn us current owners into felons.
I think the true enemies in this fight were revealed in the article-the Brady bunch (ONCE AGAIN) and CBS. This news group were the original pot-stirrers in this whole debacle using word like "loophole" and reporting on a subject they know nothing about. Funny how the tsunami of a resistance (us) changed their tune.
Im interested to see exactly what the Brady Bunch is gonna sue over-a bogus lawsuit over a bill that never existed? The bill the Brady's are thinking of would be called "vaporware" in the gaming and computer industry.sigpicComment

That won't happen if they don't even get started.
While I don't admire Europe for many things, I do admire their rail system because as it stands California rail sucks.Comment
