Are we missing the activist/spread the message mentality/energy?

It is likely because I came into politics via the Ron Paul movement but it seems like there is a lot of good that could be done in CA in terms of a similar grassroots type of campaign to spread awareness of firearms related issues.

ie: Spreading the word about the basics of firearms ownership (countering FUD)

ie: Advertizing for local ranges that teach classes

ie: Pamphlets/Papers on cars or handed out at public areas encouraging people to consider firearms purchases for self/home defense

ie: Raising awareness of groups like the CGF in sympathetic areas: ie: If I were to spread the word about CGF in East County San Diego it would likely be very well received.

    etc..

Right, well I pretty much am that guy lol

I am referring to how I don't seem to see much of that spirit in many other fellow shooters/calgunners

          Battered gun owner's syndrome.

Much of the prevailing attitude is "What's the point, it won't do any good anyways." Or (the one I hate the most) "I'll start doing something when people actually start doing something."

Not sure I agree with that. It could be that most of us are just employed people with families & responsibilities. We could make the time, but something else would have to suffer. I put together two shoots last year, and I am going to do it again this year. I also volunteer for EVERY Calguns booth in SD County. There is a limit to how much I can do alone. If anyone has any ideas, please fire away!

It is hard to stay involved when in this state I talk to most people about anything positive about guns....I feel like Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles trying to get the town folk to accept a black sheriff. I get lots of "up yours" and people hopping I would die.

                    G60 said it best....Battered gun owner's syndrome.
