Why is it that so many ranges/gun shops etc do not offer discounts for NRA/CRPA/CGF ?

Seems counter-intuitive if there is such a disparity between # of gun owners versus # of gun owners who are contributing to the fight to keep our guns...

Seems like every time I have asked if they offered any sort of discount I was almost laughed at...

The only discounts I have heard about at retail gun shops are military and LEO.

Most gun shops dislike Calguns because gun owners that are Internet savvy usually comparison shop on the Internet.

A lot of them supported mail order ammo bans so that they could have a monopoly.

Expecting them to give you a discount because you gave $25 to NRA is kind of silly.

      They run on slim margins

There isn't usually a lot of room for discounts...

Most shops donate a little here and there to the NRA or the 2af or CGF

But frankly most are trying to price product as competitively as possible already and can't do much on discounts (particularly on firearms, accessories and ammo tend to have better margins with less overhead)

You also have to remember every gun organization, peace officers association, and local baseball team has already hit them up for free stuff, money, membership, or special discounts... So they aren't keen on organizational based discounting.

Because you will shop there or transfer there eventually whether they do or not. And if you don't, then that's free markets at work, and all parties involved will eventually evolve.

But seriously, why would they give you a discount for being a member somewhere else? Most gun shops already sell discounted memberships to the NRA, or donate themselves.

FWIW Many gun store owners do give firearms to some of these groups to be raffled out at some of their dinners. NRA, duck dinners for DU, CWA, NWTF, CA deer assoc. ect.

I only know of about 3 or 4 gun shops who donate to CGF. Tracy Rifle and Pistol is the only one that comes to mind.

So then they might want to consider making their industry a priority and/or only giving to those causes that support/advance their industry.

FWIW, I've purchased a couple items at Turner's using their regular CalGuns specials.

Thats becasue almost 100% of our clients ask for a discount for something.
When you've never seen a guy before and the first thing he does is ask for a discount you might sniker a little.

If this is BigMac of Irvington Arms, then I have already had the pleasure of your store's discounts (great/competitive prices on firearms) without even mentioning belonging to an organization such as the NRA. Also, I see that you were the main sponsor for the Bay Area Rifle Championships. So thanks again.

Some stores get it and others don't or can't afford to.

Because they'd be handing out way too many discounts while operating under already slim margins.

Most discounts have some type of incentive for the seller more so than the buyer.
