Yee is bringing it on himself...

Try reading the Declaration of Independence sometime and see for yourself where our Founders believed their rights ultimately came from. It's full of references the those "2000 year old Bible verses." (Excellent refutation, by the way, for those who insist that our Founding Fathers were irreligious.)

I don't mean to get into a discussion of gay "rights" here or otherwise get off-topic (I've kind of had my fill of the subject over on FB over the last couple of weeks), but man, I do hate ignorance.

More ignorance that doesn't even deserve a response. I would educate you, but as I said, I'm tired of the subject. I'm sure this poster or someone else will be along shortly to call me a hater and demand that I explain why I'm opposed to consenting adults loving each other in the privacy of their homes. (Snort.) I wish the people who fought so hard against Prop 8, would put a small amount of that energy into preserving what's left of our gun rights in this state. SB249 will affect many, many more Californians than that did.

On a side note, I'd like to say something of my own. I saw a TV news report in which Yee played his voicemail on speakerphone. It was full of messages containing racial epithets and admonitions that he "needs to go back to Communist China where he belongs" and similar rotgut.

I do dearly hope those were fake messages, because if that's what passes for opposition to this bill, we gun owners are in serious trouble.
If Yee & Keigwin didn't have the stance "no compromise, no discussion", didn't ban everyone on social media that speaks out against his SB249, or didn't have his office staff hang up on you as soon as you mention SB249!

And Yee and Keigwin wonder why they are getting messages filled with hate.

I don't condone the messages, but I sure as hell understand WHY it's come to this.

Watch Yee's demeanor on every interview on the news....it's not about the issue anymore, it is about "Yee".

He has too much involved with it, regarding himself for him to back down or compromise. Logic, constitutional rights, and truth won't matter anymore, he will push this through with all his effort, because now he has been granted his 15 minutes of fame in the media, and he will lose face if SB 249 doesn't pass.

Prior to this, did anyone even know who Yee was? I didn't.

"High-capacity detachable ammunition magazines allow shooters to expel large amounts of ammunition quickly and have no sporting purpose"

BLAAARGH.... When the **** WAS IT EVER ABOUT SPORTING PURPOSES! The Damn Colonists weren't having a trap shooting competition with the Brits now were they!

This stuff grinds my gears. And I'm not even from Cali! Im stationed in freaking Japan where US military can't even have an airsoft gun of their own.

I don't agree that such messages are racist or invalid. Yees parents fled a totalitarian regime to give themselves access to the wonderful opportunities that America provides. Those opportunities exist because of the freedoms we enjoy. If he and his lackie don't understand the irony of his endeavor, they are out of touch with mainstream American values.

Nobody is going to be happy if SB249 passes but at least by doing this we could keep what we legally paid for.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

The 800 gorilla is deep in the fight, deeper then most of us will really ever see.

                  Is this even a possibility?

If so, can someone provide me some insight/bullet points(pun intended) and succinct directions as to what I should/should not say or mention if I could make this happen?

There's no need to go as a group. The best way to influence politicians on bills they don't otherwise know much about is by meeting them one-on-one, discussing the issues and answering their questions. That's called "lobbying" and it's how things get done in legislatures from city councils to Congress.

Not everyone is comfortable speaking as an individual and providing a group setting helps get others involved. I would prefer we individually schedule time with every Senator and Assembly Member but I dont think that will happen, so I will happily encourage others participate by gathering. I would rather encourage participation then discourage it.

I have no reason to believe those weren't genuine messages from genuine gun owners. The same knuckleheads who leave refrigerators, televisions and other trash at every shooting spot.

Gun hobby is full of people like that.

The problem with group meetings is that the legislator is no longer discussing issues with a constituent, he is addressing an assembly (or answering a petition). If any group meeting is going to be effective, it will still basically be one guy doing all the talking.

After much reading and finally seeing 10% youtube video I'm am liking the strategy. In fact, I have gained more confident in our cause. I've donated and signed all the petitions and now I'm going to use my lunch hour to call everyone on the Appropriations Committe. We are going to win this dammit!!!

I was at two different gun stores yesterday. Neither one had a single piece of paper regarding SB249. I asked one of the employees and he initially thought SB249 was some time of fire arm. Frustrating....
