There are Two different days available for Jan 2013 for renewals. I would wait until it gets closer to the end of the year or your renewal is due before you start to worry.

I hope they get this thing resolved; it'd be good to hear something substantive. There may be a simple explanation, but having no renewal slots open past December, when renewals and mods have not caused any bottlenecks, is disconcerting.

I would rather be tried by a jury of Twelve then carried by a group of Six. Just some food for thought.. Not saying I carry without a LTC but just keep that in the back of your mind.

Unless I am missing something here, there are NO dates shown as available for renewals in January 2013. The calendar is completely gray with no green squares, so no days available. I have checked all the way through 2013 - no appointments available.

Guess that is one way to shut down the whole thing - just don't allow renewals.

I hope that's not the case, but in the absence of evidence to the contrary, it's gotta be considered as a possibility.

And you're right--I'm not seeing any openings at all in 2013 either.

There has been an announcement on the Sheriff's website for over a month that their system isn't accepting any appointments as yet for 2013. It does not say why, but I believe that they are exploring other methods of making appointments that can be validated - I've heard that there are a lot of no-shows to appointments. Validating who is making the appointment request would seem to be a good way to ensure that the system is being used truthfully and effectively.

I think I've been pretty clear, but I'll take another stab at it. The SSD site says they are not booking for NEW applications (formatting mine):

"Unfortunately at this time our calendar for New Concealed Weapons Permit Applications is booked through the end of 2012. We are not yet accepting APPLICATIONS for 2013. Please continue to check the website for cancelled appointments."

It says nothing about renewals or mods, yet there are no 2013 appointments visible in the system for renewals or mods either.

As far as changing the system to prevent anti-gun people from clogging the system, I'm all for it. I have yet to hear any authoritative confirmation of that, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

You have 8 months until you have to worry about your renewal. Just give it time and see what changes they make before the end of the year.

I would bet that the appointment system has simply been "turned off" beyond 1/1/2013, which is why no appointments (new, renewal, or modification) are showing up beyond 2012.

Andrew, yeah, that would be the default action, since I don't intend to bother SSD with questions about it.

Ben, that's the most likely explanation, I think. Hopefully, that's what it is.

They also are making 210,000 a year off of it at $100.00 a pop. $20 for processing and $80 for the final deal. Not to mention the 250,000+ the DOJ is making off all the extra livescans or the renewal fees...

That is a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of cuts they have had to make. Cuts were in the millions.

profit is profit. if you can make it, there isn't an excuse not to unless it flies against your political agenda. They make less by not processing applications.

The odds are no longer in your favor and there is nothing anyone can do because they are keeping it legal by still accepting and processing applications. I am in my appeals process now for some minor kid crap that happened over 13 years ago and I have never had any convictions or serious trouble. If I would of applied last year when they were doing things more freely, I would already have my LTC but now I have to fight for it
Crap so that means I will have to fight for mines too. I just had my interview last week and I have a juvenile record that should be sealed that was 12 years ago. I didn't withheld this info. And to add I have had 4 moving violations in the past 5, 3 from speeding. Fingers crossed. I have waited 10 months for this.
