Yeah, how dare they exercise first and second amendment rights against the knightly class.

I doubt the Democratic legislature and pro -gun Gov. Jerry Brown will sign on to this legislation .
If it ever gets formally introduced.
Besides those I know of always use some sort of gun case.

Brought to you by the open carry fanatics. I wonder what they'll try to get banned next.

Doing this in a state where if there was a state constitutional amendment, the voting demographics would state that they would ban handgun possession in the home, is a very bad idea.

So, what will this control? Carry to your car will be illegal? Carry to or about the range? Hunting? Gun shows? The bearing of arms is just that, carry of arms. There are no hidden exemptions in the 2ndA and Portantino knows this, yet here he is stomping on everyones rights who live in this state.

I say carry, carry, carry legally and often.

Oh, and since it seems someone on Portantino's staff reads this forum... "Screw you buddy. Actions have consequnces during elections."
Yup, the more regulations you put into place especially when they are being used on a 1st amendment basis the more likely CA is to lose on the big stage. It becomes hard to define regulation as 'reasonable' when it closes off all expression and protest.

For instance the HG open carry could have been justified by saying if you want to protest you can carry long guns....now....not so much. Similar argument to be used to for unloaded carry as making banning loaded carry justified.

Prop 15 would have banned all handguns in California back in ~1983. It failed by almost a 2/3's majority.

                      Really?

Who do you blame for the .50 BMG rifle ban. Explain who brought about the GFSZ. Which firing range was so stupid as to let people shoot there, and get closed down? What about all those crazy fools and their surplus firearms that got banned back in 93? Who had too many normal capacity magazines? How many dead cops did it take to ban "cop killer" ammo?

Your are talking out of your *****. The ONLY blame to be leveled, is toward leftist legislators that fear you and your freedoms.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

This thread has a lot of fail in it. . .

First the open carry activists who worked so hard to get long gun open carry banned. They succeeded in provoking the expected reaction and thus have failed in the pursuit of freedom.

Going after Ron_Solo? He's one of the ones where, if I see he has posted I always read it. No question that he wants our civil rights restored and he brings an important perspective.

And the suggestion that Portantino's re-election is in jeopardy because of this move? That one is laughable on several levels! Look at his district and look at his career plans?!!!

If you deliberately provoke people they will almost certainly react. If you are not in a position to control the reaction then the odds are pretty good that you won't like the reaction.

                          "Seriously? You're surprised? "

What are you talking about? I said nothing about surprised. You've tried to do this (put words in my mouth) before. Don't.

I said its time to fight. In the legislature and/or the courts. Bring. It. On.

Some people are going to be afraid of you and I having guns locked in gun safes. Can't help that and not going to enable them by trying.
I am or have been a) a member of the board of directors of a gun club b) NRA certified rangemaster c) been a fund raiser for NRA foundation d) life member of SAF and e) trained several hundred new college age shooters here in the PRK. If you think that posting a bagillion times here on this board makes you special you are part of the problem in this state - put down the [expletive] keyboard and try doing something positive in the real world for a change you Fudd.

Ron Solo is one of the good guys on this forum. I have found his opinions to be level-headed. He does not blindly back the "blue line". You're barking up the wrong tree with this one.

I'll agree with you, the time to fight is now. But thanks to the "Open Carry" movement, we're now fighting to get things back that were legal a year ago. We were warned by smart legal minds that the open carry ban was coming and to be smart about it. Many did not listen and now another ban is on the way.

Choose your enemies and battles wisely, my friend.

I'm beginning my search for jobs outside of California... it's been fun California... but enjoy your own filth you've let happen to you, I tried, I voted and it did nothing to combat the vile libtards of the bay area and LA... thanks for the memories, I'm done with this BS commie state.
