SAF is awesome, though I'm not big on their NRA style mailings. Save the postage and stick to what you do best!

CRPA has never been one for the FACTS re CA gun laws.

I had them tell me 2 years ago that I was breaking the law for having an open holster on my belt while at Cal-Expo.
I have had them tell me that a full mag was illegal to carry.
that I could not carry the empty mag inside the mag well.

We all say do not ask a cop or a gun store clerk about gun laws. I add CRPA to that list.

I can't wait till they try and tell me that AB144 banned unloaded open carry.

The CRPA is YOUR organization. Please feel free to email or call to make a complaint. I will. I think that the "article" is pretty outrageous.

            Email: contact@crpa.org

Another suggestion for you SoCal folks is to come to the Annual CRPA Gala. You can tell Executive Director John Fields and President Tony Montanarella exactly what you thought of the article (politely of course).

You'll also get the opportunity to hear Wayne LaPierre of the NRA and Ronnie Barrett speak.

Reading that makes me almost glad to not be a member of CRPA, CGF members on the board notwithstanding.

These kinds of issues have kept me from joining the CRPA. I try to do the best I can with donations to the CGF and SAF cause I think they are both more on message without extraneous BS. I'm a member of the NRA too, but my big donations have been going to the previous two.

I've been against organized UOC because I thought the strategy was poorly thought through, timed, and executed.... but this article goes way too far.

I realize the CRPA has been making some good changes recently, hope the overall trend continues and I may just change my mind.

                  1. "long history with firearms"
                  2. "late 40's and 50's"

                    Done.

On a related note, I notice that you're on the CRPA Communications & Technology Committee. Let me suggest that having an exposed, generic, "catch all" email address (contact@) as the primary email contact for members is probably not a good idea. Email spammers always hit those types of generic addresses (contact@, info@, sales@, orders@, webmaster@, etc) since most of them work on any domain. I'm imaging that you already have a volunteer or paid staffer having to cull the true member emails from out of all the spam garbage such an address would collect. Think about a CAPTCHA web-based front end instead of that open address so you don't run into baby-bathwater issues.

Probably a good conversation to have once CRPA gets further into the 21st century with things like emailed PDF newsletters.

I'm not a huge fan of PDF because copy and pasting is such a PITA.

I posed the PDF solution for the newsletters as a way to save resources (printing, postage) for CRPA. So as not to delve off-topic, join me in a PM or on the CG CRPA forum and we can go into PDF issues further.

If you sign up for it, CRPA/The Firing Line is available as .pdf

Cut and paste is easy - here's the first column of p 17 (I added the lines after the paragraph breaks.)

Good to know, thanks. I didn't see that option when I rejoined on their web page. Seeing the scanned image earlier in this thread, I AZZumed they were still only mailing hard copies.

Now, all CRPA needs to do is add "Comment on this article" links into the PDFs to enable direct, easy commenting to the author or editor. Far easier and more direct (IMO) than having to drop an email to the contact@ address.
