Following the AW Flowchart

Okay, trying not to get too excited. I own a Springfield SAR-8, not in CA right now. If I am reading the Flowchart correctly, if I have my family member remove the thumb-hole stock and put on a standard stock and one of those screwy non-pistol grip things, I can have my rifle back? It does not have a flash suppressor/hinder.

If it's not banned by name and you don't bring in any hi caps, yes.

Pretty sure there are bullet buttons for G3 pattern rifles, too.

Looks like there are bullet buttons out there for the SAR-8, but they take a little fitting to make it work. If you install a bullet button, you can skip the removal of the thumb-hole stock/pistol grip. See this thread. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=132095

And bring those 20 rounders in disassembled. You can assemble 10's with them, or save them unassembled for SHTF
