    Stupid voter question.

If I am a registered independent will I be able to vote for the Republican nominee for president? If I want to vote in this election should I switch my party to Republican?

    Thanks, Sammy

You need to switch to Republican or Democrat depending on who you want to vote for. Also, if you want to vote in the Republican primaries, you need to switch to Republican as well.

Last time I voted was in Nov 2008. I walked out 10 seconds after I cast my vote and my friend outside said that it was over and Osama won!

I was like what the f-ck did I just waste my time for?

For President, better register, otherwise it's up to the Republican Party whether or not they will let you vote in the primary.

Moto - register as an absentee voter, vote by mail early.

My vote is always discarded in CA given the tendency for SF and LA to vote for anything with the radical "D" attached to the name. Still, at least I can tell myself that I tried.

Its frustrating isn't it! LA alone out numbers every person north of the Bay. Up here where I live and Southern/Central CA are like two different planets. I know there are some gunners down there but you are drastically out numbered. Keep fighting the good fight!

In the Presidential Primary in June you can only vote for the candidates of the party you are registered with.

All other offices other than President have radically changed rules. You can vote for anyone and only the top two vote getters in the Primary will be in the General election in November.
