      That's delightfully encouraging.

However, there's still a record number of brain dead, prescription drug guzzling, TV watching, media obeying, Walmart shopping androids out there right now buying their cheap Chinese slave labour goods on credit in order to fill that limitless void. When the chips are down these mollusks will be left behind and left to play catch up when the world changes.

But a great number of people have been nudged out of the matrix, and this is a great thing. Gun sales are great evidence of that. That's big medicine.

My friend's DROS number from Black Friday is in the 6-thousand range. That was around 7pm, so I bet the California number might be very close to at least 8-thousand.

Now here's something REALLY interesting: not only are firearm sales up, but so are NFA sales. BIGTIME. Here's an article which points to the ATF's officially released numbers.

            Fiscal Year Firearms Processed

            2005………….147,484

            2006………….296,127

            2007………….563,127

            2008………….981,303

            2009………….834,328

            2010………….826,393

            2011………….992,975

Quite obviously, the number of NFA weapons transferred has been rising sharply in the last six fiscal years. For a variety of reasons, it is clear that sound suppressors, silencers, have had by far the largest increase.
Now, take this information and put it together with the thought that the key legal criterion for Constitutional protection established by Justice Scalia is "in common use", explained as "commonly possessed by law abiding citizens for ordinary lawful purposes." Previous figures I'd seen quoted NFA transactions to be between 30,000 and 50,000 a year, no more than 100K, and thus not mainstream. This blows that out of the water. Given what we saw of the Black Friday NICS check numbers, this says NFA arms ARE in fact mainstream now.

"NFA arms" is a contrived category. While the sales are interesting and show a great interest in firearms and accessories that are controlled by the NFA the actual numbers of Suppressors and SBR's etc. would be the determining factor of "in common use." Since the registry is now closed full-auto should be less common now than in 1985 because while there are the same or fewer firearms available the population has increased. I don't know if the court would aggregate SBRs and SBSs but that is possible and of course suppressors should be required for shooting in certain areas, not taxed at a rater that is quite often 100% of the item's value.

at the VERY least, suppressors should be 100% legal and tax free for a person to use in their own home on a legally aquired weapon. no reason to require them to blow their ears (or spouse/children/roommates/guests) out in self defense.

Those same people probably make up the majority of gun buyers.
