The problem is, the overwhelming majority of people in California disapprove of guns. Your average supporter of gun rights is also going to be offended by this action because it will result in nothing, there is no upside to this protest.

The only positive is when open carrying is completely banned, these people can crawl back under their rocks so the real defenders of the 2nd amendment can get back to work.
This is the ultimate truth! I am starting to really believe that the UOC is hurting the 2A cause. I used to think UOC, sure it is youre right(I would not do so, I would rather folks do not know), but in this state it seems more like poking a sleeping bear!

I'm going to be so freaking mad if I have to lock my rifle in a case when driving somewhere.

Open carrying of any guns, pistols or rifles, alarms the public and it wastes law enforcement resources while they have to monitor the people carrying them," Leftwich said. "It would be best if it were totally banned
<sigh> .....it's fools like Leftwich who stonewall gun rights in California.

As a result of this display the CA legislature could very well pass a bill that has an effect on all of us - double locking and duct taping of solid sided cases closed with lead seals on the way to the range only or some such foolishness, yes?

Should CA gun owners do something to distance themselves from these folks? How about something really wild - get a Republican to introduce a long gun OC ban that's sharply focused and preclude the inevitable Democratic Party effort at a broader bill?

Just throwing it out there for discussion. I'll admit it might be a dumb*ss idea.

I think these people are completely lacking in common sense and I think it is fair to question which organizations they belong to. Having said that, I already carry all my firearms in locked cases when transporting. It just saves making a mistake in going through a GFZ and getting stopped for some traffic infraction and...............

There is no convenient way for me to drive to my club range without going through a GFZ.

We should organize an ANTI UOC to defend to idea that UOC for no good reason hurts the 2A cause.

Calguns and people for the advancement of 2A against UOC for no good reason!! Im serious! Someone needs to meet these UOC idiots head on and talk some sense into them!

Actually, if the assembly in Commifornia were to ban the intrastate transport of firearms as a result of LGUOC, it might actually wake the rest of you Fudds up to actually stand up for your rights.

these people are more influential at getting anti 2a bills on the floor than the Brady bunch.

So you guys are intent on banning everything under the sun just to get people more vocal than they already may be?

Just because you can't have your toy, you guys are gonna make sure everyone elses gets taken away?

                      Who open carries anyway?
"Tyranny derives from the oligarchy's mistrust of the people; hence they deprive them of arms, ill-treat the lower class, and keep them from residing in the capital. These are common to oligarchy and tyranny."

They won't ban it, they'll be just enough a PITA that it will stand in court.

Speaking of standing up for rights, how's that whole TSA checkpoints in TN working out for you folks ....?

                          Take a guess.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat

Ok this one is dumb. When people open carry, many people at Starbucks don't even realize they are carrying. If anything, people are accustomed to cell phones on the belt.

How do you open carry a long gun such that people won't freak out? My friends who don't like guns respect that I am a gun owner. As a gun owner, if I saw someone carry a shotgun at the mall, the least I will do is call 911. If I felt that my family, friends, or people around me are threatened, this will probably escalate.

Open carry of long guns is exceptionally unproductive and WILL bring a negative light to our 2A concerns.

Common sense should prevail here... I hope.

So as a gun owner, seeing another person carrying a firearm for you is justification for you to dial 911 and report a non-crime?

Actually, since I'm not allowed to get an LTC in my fine county I probably would. Not because I have an irrational fear of firearms, but because if this person weren't a law-abiding citizen I would be completely defenseless.
