So now we have jurors who ask for prints on bags of meth found in defendants' pants, arguing that they would have liked to see fingerprints to make sure the meth actually did belong to the defendant, for instance (I'm not making this example up, I've seen it in a case). The meth dealer walked.

I'll bet it also doesn't help when every mistake made by someone in law enforcement turns into a special report for all the news agencies. There is a large part of the population that now distrusts nearly everything the police say and do. Combine that with a jury of people "educated" by CSI and Law & Order AND a complete lack of ability to think for themselves - and you have the recipe for scumbags walking out of the courtroom free and clear.

Fortunately, most end up in prison. They still have the no vacancy sign out, and are taking more.

My next door neighbor is a homicide detective and says exactly the same thing.

All these shows have Gothic chicks in the crime lab that look like extras from a Dr. Seuss story, with their computer skills they can infiltrate every secure database in a half a second and report on what time you scratched your balls after waking up....but idiots believe it's real.

fortunately the average criminal is pretty dumb...then again, the average cop isn't much smarter, but the small advantage is usually enough.

I actually watch very few shows on the big 3 networks - except for silly shows shows like Big Bang Theory, The Office & The Middle. The vast majority of the shows I watch are on cable or premium channels - Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Weeds, Mad Men, Wilfred & some occasional Discovery & Travel Channel shows. Most of the time, the TV is just background noise while I'm on the web...

I got thrown off the jury for an attempted murder case when I told them I was a software engineer.

You weren't thrown off the jury - you just didn't make the cut.

A lot of people don't get picked, and sometimes it's not that the DA or the defense didn't like them, but that they liked someone else better. Sometimes it's not your profession, your race, your gender or your experience, but your attitude. It's not necessarily your answer to the last question you got asked.

Do you think you would be dismissed for explaining you are duty bound to nullify any "mala prohibita" gun charge, ie AW possesion, illegal CCW, standard cap mag issues, GFSZ, illegal NFA item possesion etc..?

I hope that I would have the courage to nullify any "crime against the state", otherwise known as "victimless crime".... Circumstance depending I suppose, but once you take a stand like that, I dont think its right to pick and choose.
