We're about to buy a pistol. Since I have a bit more free time, it will likely be me on the DROS and doing the footwork.
It is, however, to be our pistol, for home protection, for use by whoever gets to it first. (she's still a better shot then I am...)
In the worst, hope-it-never-happens, SHTF scenario, where the police arrive to find her looking like Ash at the end of Army Of Darkness, surrounded by dead rapists and gang bangers, with the barrel melted and smoking, brass everywhere, and our unfenced front yard being 2 blocks from a kindergarten, is there any benefit if her name is on the pistol's registration as well as mine? (I guess through one of those $19 voluntary forms.)
I realize I'm being slightly paranoid, I just have a (most likely completely unfounded) worry that, in the event she needs to draw/brandish/fire the thing, it will be another potential legal hurdle because the pistol wasn't registered in her name.
(and yes, registration sucks, and I don't like it either. I'm just looking to fit my needs into the current system as best I can.)
