HSC / Out of State C&R

    Evening,

I'm heading out on a trip to Nevada in a couple of weeks and I'm planning at stopping off and shopping for some C&R goodies.

Do I need to have taken the HSC to purchase / register a C&R handgun that I bring back into state with me?

I'm also of the assumption that I would not need it, as I would be purchasing in NV and the HSC is a CA thing.

I just don't want to make a foolish assumption, as we are in CA...

Thats a good one. I have bought C&R handguns in Nevada and brought them home well before i had a handgun saftey card. You are required to regester them with in 60 days of returning to California.

This is the C&R reporting form. I didnt use this one, I used the new resident/ handgun importer form, I dont think it matters.

There's no spot for HSC info. Unless you think that a NV dealer (I bought FTF mine in a Casino prking lot) is going to ask you for a CA HSC (lol), I wouldnt worry about it.

You may want to get it anyway. The HCS doesnt apply to possesion, but you cant buy in state.

I believe its 5 days and not 60

"Effective January 1, 1998, State law requires all California federal type “03” firearms licensees (collectors of curios
or relics) who obtain curio or relic handguns while out of state to report such purchases or acquisitions to the
Department of Justice within five days of transporting the handgun(s) into California."

this is stated at the top of the C&R app form.

re HSC card, no you do not need one to register your C&R acquired out of state.

C&Rtrader is correct on both counts. A C&R FFL definitely does not need an HSC to bring in C&R handguns purchased outside of California.

Good shopping. Be sure post your new toys in the C&R section.
                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
