I know that basically everyone on here uses real steel; but I, and some of you, also use airsoft.
Airsofters in California are being faced with a potentially serious threat. SB 798 would require that all of our guns be painted bright colors which would be detrimental to any milsim (and most other) games.
Air splat is having this letter sent to the senators. I know many of you don't play airsoft, but if you could throw your name in with ours to help our cause it may prevent this from spreading. You all understand how frustrating the ever-tightening real steel laws are.
Here is the letter to print, sign, and mail.
What many people don't realize is how asinine the painting of "toy" guns is (and airsoft arent really toys. Not like Nerf guns are toys anyway)... If I wanted to draw down on a cop (which I don't) without threat of being shot, I could paint any real gun bright neon orange. Even then He would be completely dumb to not at least point his weapon back in case he needed to return fire... Those of us that are mature and take good care of our guns treat them as we should; as if they were indeed real steel firearms. We transport them in bags, (not in the open) we don't wave them around, and we only play in designated areas with appropriate safety measures. I would vote that Parents of airsofting minors be required to take an instructional safety class before buying guns, or even that minors not be allowed to own them if it would prevent this completely illogical law. (And I normallyhave no problem playing with kids providing they act mature.)
Anyway, I and many other of the cali airsofters would greatly appreciate your help in stopping this. Thanks!
