Threaded rifle barrels are fine. If you get a flash hider you'll have to go fixed magazine of course.

Don't use threaded pistol barrels though, unless you want to go fixed 10 round magazine on your pistol too.

Review the item you ordered - if the barrel itself is under 16" w/o a muzzle device, a muzzle device must be pinned, welded, and long enough to get the O.A.L. over 16"

The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I really hate to ask such an uninitiated question, especially on the back of someone else's post, but could you possibly point me in the direction where that's cited in current law? I'm sort of in the middle of a negotiation with an FFL that is hesitant about releasing a rifle that has a threaded barrel (Century Arms Sterling 9mm rifle), yet has a bullet button already installed.

Threaded barrels are only "assault weapon" features on pistols.

The rifle issue is an NFA issue, if the barrel is less than 16" with the muzzle device removed, it needs to be pinned and welded or silver soldered to avoid constructive possession of a short barreled rifle.

On an AR pistol, threaded barrels are usually not an issue because the magazine is not within the pistol grip, so the only legal configurations are RAWs and CA compliant fixed magazine (10 round or less) pistols which can have all the features they want as long as they comply with federal NFA rules (possibly AOWs which are legal if properly registered).

they law doesn't normally tell your what is legal, only what is illegal. If you read the PC, the only time you see threaded barrels restricted is when they are on sem-automatic pistlsl that have detachable magazines. For no other firearms types are threaded barrels mentioned, so, they are legal.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
