There is zero chance you're going to be successful in recalling the 3rd most powerful dem in a solidly dem state.

That and the David Roberti recall (1994) worked so well for us.

Recalling Roberti was a nice F-U moment. It'd be nice if we could do it again.

          Unfortunately,
          1. that was then, this is now - demographics change
          2. the people that pulled off the recall didn't do things right and
in trouble with FPPC and had to pay big fine

De Leon is in a very safe (for him) district.

That depends on what people. It's what the self serving perpetual political machine for its own sake people want. Apparently, they deserve everything and everyone else does not.

Fair enough. I know it was a bit of a shot in the dark. In a time where there are legitimate problems that can and should be addressed with proper legislation it is disheartening to see public servants devoting their time and energy in laws that do nothing but window dressing in an effort to assure their constituents that everything is ok.

I just can't help but wonder why these same people don't devote the same time and energy to passing a responsible state budget in a timely manner as they do to passing their anti-gun legislation. Add to that, the fact that the legislation will be contested and overturned in court and it seems like an even greater waste.

I can't help but wonder what our founding fathers and all those brave folks who have given their lives for the freedom and ideals of this nation would think of the current state of affairs. Not just in California but in the nation overall.

Because they've figured out how to write laws that, either directly or indirectly, heavily line their pockets. If you drafted a BS law and got a free housing development or "out of country" yacht or jet or something along those lines(or your constituents are a bunch of out-of-touch cooks *ahem*DeLeon* and you want to be re-elected)...it's not hard to find someone willing to stab their country in the back to draft/support BS legislation...as long as people are willing to draft/support/vote for whatever it is so they can get "their" piece of the pie, we're F'd in the A.

People 'voting the treasury for themselves' comes to mind, seems to have been fairly detrimental to past civilizations.
