Hey Johnnybx3, I "believe" tube fed magazines don't have a capacity limit as far as "High cap" is concerned.. Just like you can have a lever action or 22LR tube fed that's over 10 rounds.
Someone in the know will certainly chime in about a shotgun.
As far as "hunting" with a shotgun, most places limit to 3 rounds loaded.

      10 rd max.
Tube exemption only applies to 22lr and to lever operated guns.

Only rimfires are exempt from the 10 round limit in tube magazines.

Had a look over the shotgun flowchart and could not find anything on capacity limits for shotguns with fixed magazines. As far as I know there is just the 10 round limit for all centerfire weapons(besides a 30 round shotgun tube would be a little unwieldy).

            Edited with correct info

One other factor that is federal and not state is 922 and the "sporting purpose" issue that limits imported guns to fewer rounds than US made shotguns. That is why an FN SLP has a full extended mag tube, but the Benellis have a limiter on them. Something else to consider if round capacity is an issue for you.

If you legally own a 12 round stick magazine or 20 round drum for a Saiga 12 it is entirely legal to use as long as you comply with California's "assault weapon" laws.

I don' think this is correct. Goexx and Inoxmark cited the P.C. correctly. Ex: Marlin 1894C with .38 specials? Can't it fit more than 10? Available at all Big 5's too. Or maybe mines just broken....

The 1201 is legal. However, it's mag tube is crimped to limit round count from it's Benelli brethren (both owned by same parent company) and negate any option of tube extensions. There is a mod out there to "ghost" an additional round in the elevator to make 7 round capacity though. Pretty neat trick I really appreciate on mine.
