Needed: Step 1: virtual Shall Issue; Step 2: NRA's model Castle Doctrine law

I should mention some GOOD NEWS! ! !

1) Repubs took control of BOTH houses in NC and the Dem leader of one of those houses who stopped the NRA's model Castle Doctrine law in the past LOST his race! ! ! So, next year NC should be joining the other 25 states with this GG CCWer protection.

2) In WI, Gov. Doyle (D), who shot down Shall Issue bills 2 or 3 times, will be replaced by Scott Walker (R), who has promised to sign Shall Issue (may have even said he'd sign Constitutional Carry), won the governor's race! ! ! I've read WI gunnies already talking about pushing this law at the same time and I'm sure the NRA will be busy up in WI (burrrr!), twisting arms to try to get it passed as well.

IOW, by 2012, 2 more states may have passed this law. With all the pro-gunnie wins in other state houses and governorships, I'd be surprised if we're not at 30 states by 2013.

Aside: Frankly I am shocked to see that VA hasn't already pass this common sense self-defense law. Hopefully, they'll pass it soon.

More good news: I contacted VCDL and they said they will push for the NRA's Model Castle doctrine law again in VA. They think it will pass this time.

Absolutely agree, paladin. Been saying the same for years, since my door got kicked in one night. As for the question of civil liability for a good shoot - - a real Caste Doctrine prohibits.

Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground get intermixed together unnecessarily.

We have a castle law here, but it's quite weak, and it still allows OZ DAs who wish to protect criminal thugs to throw your @$$ behind bars forever for a good shoot. I want one that allows me to protect my neighbor's house (who got burg'd on Halloween). I likely wouldn't have been able to legally detain the suspects because of that, and because their house is in a GFSZ. Get rid of that too (even though it's )

Otherwise, I agree with step one, but step 2 should be the Roster so that those who can only carry & hold an OR pistol can do so ASAP. 626.9 needs to be next, but maybe we can go after the CL while going after one of the other 2. I think it wouldn't be too much to be able to multi-task after VSI, we are already multi-tasking, are we not? I'd like the AWB (elimination of the BB, index list[s]) to be attacked soon after VSI/SI, but if that has to wait...

Personally I like Texas' fairly liberal use of force laws. At least defense of property is justifiable, as it should be (and in the past was fairly common) there.

The above was last Fri. Today it passed out of the legislature and is on the governor's desk! Just like Shall Issue, the more states that pass it and have success w/it, the easier our job will be. The antis won't be able to snow the People w/arguments about the streets running red w/blood. (Thank Algore for the internet! )
