Canyon Sports is nothing more than a FUD store that happens to have an ffl.
    Spend your dough elsewhere.

Why pass a law when you can just lie to distributors and scare them into taking no chances? Brilliant plan.

Canyon Sports is the worst gunshop in the bay area. Check out City Arms that just opened up a week ago in pleasant hill. They're right across the street from DVC. They're friendly and have great prices.

They are just propagating the FUD.

Canyon Sports is a joke anyway. Spend your hard earned money at a fun shop that actually cares enough know Californias gun laws and what they can and can not sell. Like others have stated, City Arms is a good choice. My vote also goes for Metco in Cordelia.

There seems to be alot of FUD going on at CA gun stores. More so than i've noticed when I'm back home in NC or visiting my lady in VA

our laws are a bit more byzantine.

We don't spread FUD in my store.

Now, might have some misinformed FFL out there been ordering complete AR15s in assault weapon configuration from a wholesaler and then putting a fixed magazine device on them when they arrive? That is possible. I certainly have found cracks in the system where I could have illegally done this. I decided the risk was way not worth it for the few extra bucks I would make.

Now, might some other dealers be willing to risk it or simply not understand that it is illegal to do this? Might some wholesalers not understand this is illegal as well? It is entirely possible.

So it is still perfectly legal for me to accept complete rifles equipped with a fixed magazine device and/or taken apart, just as it always has been.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Most dealers outside CA will pump you full of BS! It's just their lazy way of not deadling with CA gun laws.

Is Metco dealing in EBR now? Last I checked they were not.

They have been dealing EBRs for a while. They don't do stripped lowers, but I swear they had complete rifles, and I know they had uppers and everything else.

As an FFL holder aren't you allowed to accept assault weapons? I thought thats what the whole Federal part of FFL allowed you to do. Obviously you can't break local laws when you sell firearms but I thought you could accept class iii weapons with an FFL. Or am I mistaken and those aspects are separate?

California law prohibits any FFL from accepting assault weapons unless they have an assault weapons dealer permit. Assault weapons being those defined by California law.

"Class III" weapons, actually called NFA or Title 2 weapons (you have class III dealers, but "class III weapons" is a bit of a misnomer) can be transferred by a normal FFL occasionally and not as a regular part of business and the FFL must still pay the tax (usually $200) for the transfer. If an FFL wants to transfer Title 2 weapons as a regular course of business, he must have an SOT (Class II to manufacture and deal or Class III to deal only). The SOT is a tax that the FFL pays to exempt him from the normal $200 tax per each title 2 firearm (5$ for AOW's). California law says that FFL's in the state still can't transfer title 2 weapons unless they have numerous California permits with the exception of suppressors (silencers), AOW's, and C&R SBR/SBS's.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

canyon was the last store in the area to carry any black rifle's and the mere mention of them resulted in you being told they are not legal and you will go to jail. then they saw the money other places were making and did a complete 180 on their stance.

canyon is also the place where if you ask for something that they dont have in stock 99% of the time you will be told it is not on the list and steered towards something they do have in stock.
