Oh wait...company policy says no guns? Nevermind

I think ALL places like this have and have exercised these "fire you for having the nerve for surviving a robbery" policies. Not that boycotting for this reason isn't a good idea though...

"Tony Scheer, a Charlotte criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor, said the perception of higher crime has skewed reality and led to the purchase of more handguns. That has fueled a debate about vigilante justice.

There is a difference between someone using deadly force in self-defense when his or her life is threatened and someone using deadly force when there is no threat. Sheer said the victim deserves the benefit of the doubt."

I guess that I should expect this from a criminal defense attorney, but what?

"When my client robs you and threatens you with a deadly weapon, you should give him the benefit of the doubt. If he kills you, only then are you justified in protecting yourself. Otherwise, how do you know that he wants to kill you unless he does it?

At least I don't take his use of "victim" as meaning the robbery victim who shot the criminal. He was clearly talking about use of force "when there is no threat".

I took it as meaning "victim" as in "career felon who got shot". Did I read it incorrectly?

I don't pretend to be an "authority." I'm just a guy who trains a lot, shoots a lot and has a perspective.

I could profile those names...We need to educate everyone that dying as a criminal is not the way to go out in life. What a shame.

Serves them right...I am happy they got off'd but some communities need to raise better children or not have them at all.

So statistically, a ridiculous name that begins with the letter "D" will cause you to get shot while committing a felony...

I read 'victim' to mean the CCW holder that the career criminals were trying to rob. But given the utterly horse**** worldview that some people have, I can see how in some circles they might think the robbers were the actual victims here.

I'm already there. They canned a delivery guy a year or so ago that shot a couple of BG's that ordered a pizza in order to ambush the delivery guy. Delivery guy was a single dad with 2 kids at home.
