    Dear Friends (and foes..haha),
Thank you for your questions and comments. I am running 100mph right now but hope to get back on tonight probably after midnight. I am having a BBQ fundraiser tomorrow (Saturday) from 12pm-3pm. Please stop by, have a burger, and throw a few bucks in the bowl to get us to victory lane. It will be at the Chevron on the southeast corner of Antelope Rd and Auburn Blvd. Thanks!!!

Bret, what makes you think you have the experience to be a good Sheriff? With your lack of experience it seems we could grab any deputy off the street and throw him up as Sheriff, what makes you any different?

I REALLY want to WANT to vote for you and I really want CCW in Sacramento, but I can't seem to find any other reasons to vote you in as Sheriff

        I hope you dont mind.

I will also have a few bumper stickers to donate to the cause. Bret can either give them away or put money in the bowl and get a free sticker

Ok it's 2am (and no, I haven't been at the bar) and at the risk of getting a little rummy, I'll respond to a few questions/comments. As far as any signs/stickers some of you might be creating on your own, I fully support and encourage you to do so. Feel free to distribute anything like that as you wish.

Regarding Captain Cooper's comment abt databases and such, that was a mixture of responses and he was actually talking abt Captain Jones at that point and the allegation that Jones provided confidential law enforcement related information to known ex-felons on an on-going business. I believe the audio of that is still available on Hogue's site but let me know if you need me to repost it and I will.

Regarding my termination, after running unsuccessfully against Sheriff Blanas, I took a trip to AZ where I asked an officer there if he could help me locate a friend that I hadn't seen for abt 10 years. He was not able to locate any information for me and provided me none. Later it was learned that he had conducted a criminal history check on my friend and that got back to my department. During an Internal Affairs interview, I admitted that I asked him to help me but that I had not asked him to run a check (he later testified that I in fact had NOT asked him to do so). When the department couldn't come up with another reason to discipline me, they charged me with numerous allegations of dishonesty. Essentially, all of them were thrown out with the exception that they determined that I was dishonest when I said I couldn't remember if I gave the officer in AZ my identifying information. I actually took a lie detector test, which I passed completely on the first time, and offered to give up my chance at $250,000 in back pay if they would simply drop the matter and reinstate me and Blanas said no. I leave it to the reader to determne if it was justified or politically motivated.

Regarding my experience (or lack thereof), let me start with my opponents. What exactly is their experience? A failed effort year after year to provide adequate protection to the citizens of Sac County and a refusal to allow you to exercise the right to protect yourself. Part of a department that responded in abysmal fashion to what should have been a clearly impending budget crisis. Leadership that has resulted in possibly the worst morale in the department's history. And allegations of felony criminal activity that led to Grand Jury investigations.

My experience starts with approx 25 years of law enforcement related experience, 6 years of important political experience, and 5 years of critical mid- and upper-management business experience in the private sector. I have responded to more that 20,000 law enforcement calls in my career, more than both of my opponents combined. I know each of the members on the Board of Supervisors and can work with them to get things done. I know most of the councilmembers throughout the region and will be able to work with them to bring my ideas for regionalism to the department. I know the importance of tax dollars and how to spend them wisely and it is why I am supported by Joe Sullivan, the former President and Executive Director of the Sacramento County Taxpayers League. I know how important it is to watch the bottom line and pay attention to every aspect of a business.

And yes, I believe in your right to keep and bear arms and I will protect that right and allow you to exercise it as your next Sheriff.

Hope to see some of you in a few hours and if you would like to help with the campaign but can't make it out, I don't have GunPal but I do have PayPal available through my website at www.BretDanielsForSheriff.com or you can mail a contribution to PO Box 197, Citrus Hts, 95611.

              Thanks for you support.

Bret, I can't make it out to the BBQ today unfortunately as I already had other plans to go shooting with my grandfather. After reading your above reply, I'll be donating to your campaign when I get home this afternoon and you can plan on my vote.

Good luck this afternoon at the BBQ.

                  Bret,
Thanks for the great conversation today. I enjoyed spending time with you and your friends.

All we need is 50% +1 vote in June.
If no one gets 50% The top 2 will runoff in November.

Had a GREAT time today with everybody that showed up for the BBQ. We raised some much needed $$$ but still have a ways to go to be able to get signs out. I can't do this on my own guys. Please go to the website and make a contribution today.

If there are more questions that any of you have or if I haven't answered previously ones sufficiently, please let me know. While obviously the issue of 2nd Amendment rights are what most of us on here are mainly concerned with, I want you to know that my goals are much more well-rounded and my plan is to completely reinvent the Sacramento Sheriff's Dept into the most respected agency in California and a model for other Sheriffs to follow.

I need your help to get there.

Thank you so much for the responses Bret. I truly believe that you have the ideas and guts to make Sacramento a safer place for all of us.
I was so sad to hear current Sheriff McGinness using the 2nd Amendment and our right to carry as a political ploy in light of impending department cuts. He said if Deputies need be laid off he'd be forced to issue more CCW's. Anyone seen CCw's on the rise? I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now.
Anyways; You're my guy Bret Daniels. You embody the ideals that many of us hold dear. You have my support.
I just lost my job AND my car broke down. The car being the only reason I did not make it out today. Regardless of my situation I will be contributing to your campaign and hope to see you as our next Sheriff.
