Anybody they get for the LAPD will be an issue. Maybe they will send Parks back there to do more damage to the force.

Mayor Villaraigosa just announced that "Because of William Bratton, Los Angeles is safer than it has been for over half a century."

I feel better about not being able to get a CCW in LA now.
I'm safe, Antonio told me so.

is LA Times enough of a source?
(I just went to LA Times site and it was the headline)

"I agree with chief and John Mack that we have great people within our dept," Villaraigosa said. The mayor added that there were qualified candidates within the department, but said the search would follow the guidelines set in the city charter and would be extensive, national and international.]

I'm assuming he means Mexico. Just a hunch.
              Where else. Bulgaria?

Time to look for a replacement that's pro-gun.

LAs gun policies will never change until the antis are replaced with pro gun politicians. So far my scorecard says they have 1.

I was just thinking. Is it possible that the City Attorney may be counseling the decision makers on the next chief selection?

Bratton feels the hire should be from within the department.

He's leaving voluntarily so that he is at the "height" of his LAPD career (getting the federal consent decree removed was what he was waiting for IMO). He may also know that prelim. crime stats are starting to trend upward.

False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Probably also doesn't hurt that he will be making tons more money. Anybody who ran a company of over 10k would be making millions and he was only getting a little over 300k. So he probably wants to get paid before retiring.
